Happy 70 POISON IVY

20 February 2023

Kristy Marlana Wallace, aka POISON IVY
in San Bernardino, CA on 20 February 1953.

Happy 70 to one of the most charismatic Amazons in rock history. She claimed she dreamed up her artist name and was first named Poison Ivy Rorschach, taking her last name from that of the inventor of the Rorschach test).

Great guitarist, utterly cool pin-up star, and widow to Lux Interior (born: Erick Lee Purkhiser) with whom she formed legendary psychobilly band The Cramps (1976-2009).

Together they fabricated 8 studio albums, with Ivy as co-writer of all Cramps, songs and punked-sexed-steamed-up crazy crowds all over the world with their sultry and electrifying shows.

Following Interior‘s death in 2009 the band
called it a day and Ivy got out of the public eye.

1-2-3 great IVY CRAMP moments.

Happy Birthday To LUX INTERIOR…

21 October 2019

LUX INTERIOR (birth name Erick Lee Purkhiser), the charismatic and gloriously eccentric frontman of iconic garage band THE CRAMPS, was born on 21st October 1946. He would have turned 73 today. Unfortunately he passed away 10 years ago.

Here’s that big freakish Cramps classic to celebrate the man’s birthday…

THE CRAMPS’ Charismatic And Frenzied Frontman LUX INTERIOR Passed Away 10 Years Ago Today…

4 February 2019

Tumultuous misfits THE CRAMPS were a terrifically entertaining and rakish glam psychobilly sensation started by lovebirds LUX INTERIOR (born Erick Lee Purkhiser
in 1946) and POISON IVY (born Kristy Wallace in 1953) back in 1972 in Sacramento, California. Their live shows (with a regularly changing line-up over the years) rapidly became the hottest talk of the town (and later the world) as their adrenalin injected
rock ‘n’ roll explosiveness embraced all things spicy, decadent, sexy and provocative as well in sound, lyrics and excitatory appearance. In one word: PERFECT! They released a series of albums, from red-hot toppers to a couple of flops, but never failed when it came to unleash their hellish demons on stage. Unfortunately, their tempestuous roller coaster exploits came to an end when Lux Interior passed away on 4 February 2009, only 62. Ten years ago today. Cause of death: aortic dissection. To remember the unforgettable and one of a kind motherrocker Turn Up The Volume! selected three rad The Cramps (live) knockouts. Let’s fucking roll…
