Legendary soul star TINA TURNER has passed away today at her home in
Küsnacht, Zurich, Switzerland (she had the Swiss nationality) following a long
illness. She was born, named Anna Mae Bullock in Brownsville, Tennessee
83 years
ago.

Tina started her extraordinary Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame career in 1957, at the age
of 18 singing with Ike Turner’s Kings of Rhythm. She married Turner and together
they became a worldwide successful act as the Ike & Tina Turner Revue later
shortened to just Ike & Tina Turner.

In 1977 she left her violent, cocaine-addicted husband. She started a solo career
but was somehow ignored until 1984 when she scored big-time with her album
Private Dancer
.
She toured around the world and became a swirling superstar
over the years. She recorded/released 10 solo LPs. Her full discography here

JOHNNY MARR Remembers His Very Good Friend And Former THE SMITHS Bassist ANDY ROURKE

ANDY ROURKE, the highly praised bass player of immortal indie stars THE SMITHS
passed away two days ago, on 19 May, following a long battle with pancreatic cancer
at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. He was born named Andrew Michael Rourke on 17 January 1964 in Manchester UK, 59 years ago.

He Did It His Way – FRANK SINATRA Passed Away 25 Years Ago Today

25 years ago today American singer/actor FRANK SINATRA passed
away in Los Angeles, aged 82, after suffering a heart attack.

He was born Francis Albert Sinatra in Hoboken, New Jersey in 1915. He was a succesful
actor but even more succesful as The Voice, his nickname for being such a fabulous crooner. He scored over 25 Top 40 singles including his 1969 hit MY WAY (more than
360 million streams on Spotify), that re-entered the UK charts eight times and spent
a total of 165 weeks on the charts.

The song was an adaption of French chanson C’omme D’Habitude
composed in 1967 by Jacques Revaux with lyrics by Gilles Thibaut and
and famous French singer Claude François.

Pioneering Guitar Hero JEFF BECK Death At 78

12 January 2023

JEFF BECK, one of the genuine and pioneering guitar heroes in rock, passed away
2 days ago at 78, after suddenly contracting bacterial meningitis. The news was made public yesterday evening. The exceptional musician was born Geoffrey Arnold Beck in
East Essex, UK in 1944.

He started his career with 60s blues beat band The Yardbirds (who also had Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton in their changing line-ups). In 1967 he started his own band The Jeff Beck Group originally with Rod Stewart as the singer and Ronnie Wood on guitar. The JBG recorded 3 albums.

As a solo artist Beck released 11 LPs with Loud Hailer as the most recent
one that came out in 2016. He also recorded with many other artists.

MAXI JAZZ (born Maxwell Fraser on 14 June 1957 in London) was
a rapper, songwriter and DJ, best know as the frontman of dance-pop
act FAITHLESS (from 1995 to 2011 and in 2015/2016). He passed away
on 23 December in his sleep. Only 65.

The band broke the news on their social media.

“We are heartbroken to say Maxi Jazz died peacefully in his sleep last night.
He was a man who changed our lives in so many ways. He gave proper meaning
and message to our music,”

Renowned Italian music composer ANGELO BADALAMENTI who worked
a lot with groundbreaking filmmaker David Lynch (Twin Peaks, Blue Velvet,
Mulholland Drive
), has died at the age of 85.

Badalamenti’s passing was confirmed by multiple relatives of the famous composer,
with his niece Frances Badalamenti telling The Hollywood Reporter that her nephew died of natural causes on Sunday, December 11 surrounded by family, at his home
in New Jersey.

CHRISTINE McVIE, born Christine Perfect in Bouth, Lancashire, England on
12 July 1943 has passed away today, 30 November, after a short illness,
aged 79.

The first great group she played with was the British blues band Chicken Shack.
She also made a couple of solo LPs back then. She married John McVie (co-founder
and bassist of Fleetwood Mac) in 1968, joined FM, and divorced him in 1976.

She’s, of course, best known as one of the singer-songwriters of Fleetwood Mac II
along with Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham she made one of the best-selling LP’s
in rock history with Rumours (1977).

LEGENDS – Rest In Peace GINGER BAKER And EDDIE VAN HALEN

It’s already been two years – 6 October 2020 – since EDDIE VAN HALEN (born Edward Lodewijk Van Halen in Amsterdam, The Netherlands) guitar expert and co-founder of mega rock band Van Halen passed away following a stroke. The band made/released 12 studio LPs between 1978 and 2012.

Their 1996 single JUMP was a giant hit, as we know it
(almost 640 million streams on Spotify).

EDDIE VAN HALEN: Bio – Discography

Masterly drummer GINGER BAKER (born Peter Edward Baker in London) passed away
on 6 October 2019, at the age of 80, following heart surgery and a terrible fall. He’s best know as member of the three-star rock band Cream which only lasted for 2 years (1966-1968).

Baker melted jazz and African rhythms and pioneered both jazz fusion and world
music. He hated to be called ‘rock drummer’. Following the split of Cream he drummed
with supergroup Blind Faith, formed his own act called Ginger Baker’s Air Force, and collaborated with multiple artists.
