THE ROLLING STONES – It’s Only Rock And Roll But We Like ‘FOREIGN TONGUES’

Eternal rock icons THE ROLLING STONES have their 25th LP, FOREIGN TONGUES out.
The Telegraph (English newspaper) writes: “There is more than enough vitality,
wit, richness, energy and joy on offer here to make the case that rock ’n’ roll still
rules in the modern pop firmament, and the Stones remain its greatest advocates.’
TUTV: As expected, nothing un-Stonesque on this new longplayer.
Jagger (82), Richards (82) and Wood (79) are still addicted to piping hot blues crackers (Rough And Twisted / Never Wanna Lose You / Covered In You), they still know how to rock
out with lots of decibels (In The Stars / Mr Charm / Never Wanna Loose / Hit Me In The Head / Side Effects) and they still come up with powerful ballads (Jealous Lover / Ringing Hollow / Some Of Us / Back In Your Life).
Overall, it’s a bit much of the same, close family to their previous LP Hackney Diamonds. Catchy tunes, but no memorable ones for the future. No fillers, but no real killers either.
On the other hand, it’s quite spectacular to hear a 64-year-old band generating
so much ardency, fervency and vibrancy. Foreign Tongues displays a joie de vivre
many young groups can learn from.
The Stones could have retired a very long time ago.
But rock ‘n’ blues roll was/is and will always be in
their hearts and souls. Hats off. Bless them.
