British Desperadoes FAT WHITE FAMILY Show Soft Spot On Sensitive Single ‘WHEN I LEAVE’…

Relaxing reveries for the laziest day of the week

8 September 2019

All their devoted – bizarro and cranky – fans like me, know that rad British desperadoes
FAT WHITE FAMILY love to shock, love to trigger controversy, but most of all they love to write songs about the unlucky ones, the desperate ones, the depressed ones, the eccentric ones, hopeless ones and all sorts of outlaws who hate reality. Yes FWF has a soft spot for all the outcasts because they were born outcasts themselves.

‘WHEN I LEAVE’, one of the moodiest moments on their new LP (and released as its third single) seems to cover that passionate empathy for all of us who can’t cope with normality, exploitation and authoritarian political regimes where only the people that make money counts.

FAT WHITE FAMILY Bombed DOUR FESTIVAL In BELGIUM…

FAT WHITE FAMILY – Dour festival Belgium – Sunday 14 July 2019

Dedicated followers know that Turn Up The Volume has his eye and ears on wayward motherrockers FAT WHITE FAMILY from their early days on. So far this gang made 3 albums, 2 half great ones and one near-brilliant (their newest: Serfs Up!) and blew my hungry mind every time I saw them take a stage. Yesterday night at Dour festival in Belgium it happened once more again despite the fact that Saul Adamczewski and his astonishing live guitar psych play was nowhere to be seen or heard. He was replaced (partially) by a sultry saxophone player. Guess what? It worked damn well. Hell yeah!

Needless to say that hyperkinetic frontman Lias Saudi led the trippy troops again with a red-hot-blooded intensity and a raging persuasiveness. One day his head will explode on the podium. He’s the madman in the middle every single second. Yes, Lias, we know you wanna be the best. You know, you’re actually the best fucking ringleader on the planet right now of the only band that matters right now and that ended a steamy performance with the terrifically frenetic closer ‘Bomb Disneyland‘ leaving an ecstatic crowd behind begging for more. I’m still bloody tired after a long day/night writing this stuff this very moment so I’ll leave you with some visual impressions of the Fat Whites Bombing Dour

all

‘Drogel‘ by FONTAINES D.C. (Dublin, Ireland)
A razor-sharp modern day post punk record about youth’s anxiety and apprehension for the future. Packed with adrenalized ripsnorters having an instant impact on your body’s movements. These young Irish wolves with their charismatic frontman will be big soon.

.
‘Serfs Up!’ by FAT WHITE FAMILY (London, UK)
South-London‘s desperadoes are back with a versatile record of multi-layered tunefulness, hypnotic grooviness and funky psychedelia. Less provocative, but still enough wicked tales and barbed observations. Half speed, half valium. And live still one of the trenchant best!

.
‘Schlagenheim’ by black midi (London, UK)
Indie guitar explosiveness with an experimental bravado, a deafening weightiness, and an acute vox in the middle. Totally refreshing, nastily cutting and forthright. Imposing debut!

‘Peuk’ by PEUK (Belgium)
Smashing debut achievement by this fresh Belgian grunge engine with clamorous and soul-stirringly howling singer/guitarist Nele screaming her heart and lungs out and leaving you behind out of breath and pretty puzzled. Gloriously noisy and exorcistic! Hallelujah!

FAT WHITE FAMILY Shares Bloody Track From New Album – Here’s ‘TASTES GOOD WITH THE MONEY’…

Brand new sonic impulses

21 March 2019

Early January South-London‘s most notorious misfits FAT WHITE FAMILY dropped lead single FEET from their upcoming, third, album. A karma-like chant with a ghostly and magnetic vibe. A totally different beast compared to their The Fall influenced post-punk mayhem of the early days, although their controversial appetite for shock treatment is
still intact. Oh yeah, the gang just shared another cut from the new LP. ‘TASTES GOOD WITH THE MONEY’ is their ode to good old rich West-London. The song is a contagious, groovy, sing-along humdinger featuring a sequence with their amigo Baxter Dury. The clip is directed by electro-dance artist Róisín Murphy and is a freaky, deranged, horror-ific and totally bloody parody. C’mon let’s join the mess right here…

FAT WHITE FAMILY Announces New Album And Shares Ghostly New Single ‘FEET’…

Brand new sonic impulses

10 January 2019

After their SONGS FOR OUR MOTHERS CD in 2016, FAT WHITE FAMILY‘s key members turned to other projects (Lias Saoudi joined The Moonlandingz and Saul Adamczewski formed Insecure Men). Obviously they still had time for another FWF album too. Third longplayer SERFS UP! will be out in April. Today the band dropped first single, called
‘FEET’ and it’s a totally different animal compared to anything they did before.

A press statement claims that: “Where once they soundtracked grubby Britain of vape shops, Fray Bentos dinners and blackened tinfoil, a crepuscular comedown realm stalked by Shipman, Goebbels and Mark E Smith, Fat White Family now inhabit another cosmos entirely.”

Feet‘ is an extended karma-like chant. A ghostly, magnetic and kaleidoscopic vibe. You’ll hear strings, a sort of monk choir in the back, cinematic sound sequences and lots of other stuff you wouldn’t associate with the collective once branded ‘the most dangerous new band in Britain‘. Hallelujah, I can’t wait for the new record. But first this close encounter of the third kind…
