SEXTILE – Los Angeles’ Electro-Punk Tornado PUSH You To The Dancefloor With Their New Explosive Album

Standout longplayers

16 September 2023

Band: SEXTILE

Who: Electro-punk trio from Los Angeles, led by key members Brady Keehn and
Melissa Scaduto. Since emerging in 2015, they have been a party-provoking force
on the LA underground, capable of kicking up a riot with the raw-edged squall
of a synth or the sharp-elbowed jerk of a guitar.

So far they fabricated/released 2 albums:
A Thousand Hands (2015) and Albeit Living (2017)
and one EP (2018).

And number three just landed.

It’s named PUSH.
Order info HERE

Press info: “Sextile are now ready to rage with a serotonin-boosting new album, a new
group dynamic, faster BPMs, and an even wilder new direction. Recorded in Yucca Valley,
Push bounces and bops at the fringes of hardcore dance music, with the hallmarks of drum
& bass, gabber and trance illuminating the record like glow sticks at a ‘90s Fantazia rave.

Push was inspired by the kind of pleasure-seeking music fans whose social calendar comprises both the punk show and the rave. Josh Wink, Iggy Pop, Goldie, and early XL Recording shave all been name checked as influences onPush, and the dance floor remains a constant presence. Repping their place of origin, “New York” brings these musical touchstones off the page, guiding the album like an acid-soaked lodestar with its grinning nod to “Higher State ofConsciousness” and a whirly gig of music-box synths. There are still nods and “hellos” to the caustic post-punk of Sextile’s earlier work. Sextile haven’t relinquished their punk credentials, they’ve just given them a smiley-faced revamp.”

TUTV: Techno punk extravaganza. Chemical Brothers fused with drums & bass expert
Goldie‘s breakbeats and produced by NIN’s Trent Reznor. E-tastic nightclub fireworks. Saturday Night Fever for (il)legal raves on a modern weekend. Ghostly vocals coming
from LA’s underground while schizophrenic guitars rip your speakers.

24-party soundtrack for hedonists to lose themselves in again, before crashing.

Non-stop ominous electro-attacks keep on steamrolling out of your speakers
like sonic speedballs with the ferocious force of drilling hammers. Alice Glass,
Pussy Riot
and The Prodigy all rolled into one and pushing it to the limits.

Physical and mental preparedness required before entering Sextile‘s world.

SINGLES/CLIPS: New York / Crash

Los Angeles’ Electro-Punk Whirlwind SEXTILE With New Capricious Roller Coaster ‘CRASSY MEL’

New striking strokes

28 January 2023

Band: SEXTILE
Who: Electro-punk act from Los Angeles, led by
key members Brady Keehn and Melissa Scaduto.

So far they fabricated/released 2 albums:
A Thousand Hands (2015) and Albeit Living (2017)
and one EP (2018).

New single: CRASSY MEL

It follows the two new songs – Modern Weekend
and Contortion – that the duo shared last year.

Crassy Mel is a weird beast of a jackhammer. It detonates like an electronic
whirlwind, spiced with hyperkentic bongos, and pushed by Scaduto‘s sneering
vocals. But soon the track derails as if synth-wizard Aphex Twin sneaked into
the studio for some head-twisting sequences before glowing synths fade out
slowly. A 3.28-minute roller coaster, ladies and gents.

Tune in.

Los Angeles’ Electro Trashers SEXTILE Share New Steamy Single ‘PARADOX’…

Daily fuel to load your sonic batteries…

One of the most exciting gigs I witnessed this year was by Los Angeles electro trash punks SEXTILE when they hit my home country Belgium early February on their first European tour. Check Turn Up The Volume‘s impressions of that night right here. The blistering band led by duo Brady Keehn, a modern-day Richard Hell and Melissa Scaduto, hitting her drums instinctively like The Velvet Undergound‘s Mo Tucker, produce a hot rip-roaring electronic pandemonium with an invigorating power you simply can’t resist. Now, after their stellar 2017 debut album Albeit Living they return with new rousing single PARADOX from their upcoming 5-track EP, entitled 3. An inflammatory firecracker thundering like electronica pioneers Suicide on speed. Mind-stimulating, body-energizing and soul-stirring. Experience the turbulent whirlwind right here…

SEXTILE – Celestial Bodies From Los Angeles Hit Belgium With A Non-Stop Electro Trash Punk Smack…

SEXTILE – Wilde Westen, Kortrijk (Belgium) – 2 February 2018

Wow! Wow! Wow! All the way from sunlit Los Angeles electro trash dance punks SEXTILE invaded Belgium, as part of their very first European tour, yesterday and gave us a steamy sauna experience that made us all forget the freezing cold outside, instantly. I discovered this ace squad (= meaning: aspect or position of 60° between two planets or other celestial bodies) only a few weeks ago and what a spectacular find it is. They sound like 80s electro punks D.A.F. (Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft) having the time of their life jamming with legends Suicide while aiming at breaking the decibels rules. Something like this blistering bolide…

Also this 4-headed whirlwind looks utterly cool with frontman Brady Keehn as a mixed reincarnation of James Dean and Richard Hell, with the tremendously hammering drummer Melissa Scaduto reminding me instantly of the fabulous Mo Tucker (the hitting heartbeat of the timeless 70s icons Velvet Undeground) and synths/guitars tandem Eddie Wuebben and Cameron Michel going for the British Romantics look. As well on record as on stage they create a rip-roaring pandemonium and develop an intoxicating potency you simply can’t resist. This is, without a shout of a doubt a must watch/hear/follow gang. They’ll be your new favorite band the very minute you’ll experience their mammoth stroke potential. No time to waste, fellow music junkies, here’s their newest, supersonic jumbo jet LP ALBEIT LIVING
