In her home country it got to #2.
The song was written by Crow, David Baerwald, Bill Bottrell, and Kevin
Gilbert, with lyrics adapted from Wyn Cooper‘s 1987 poem ‘Fun‘.

21-year-old American superstar OLIVIA RODRIGO is touring North America right now
to promote her 2023 blockbuster album Guts. Last night she stopped in Nashville and invited at one point another, more seasoned, superstar to the stage. Together with SHERYL CROW (62) she played an ecstatic and high-energetic version of Crow‘s 1996 classic IF IT MAKES YOU HAPPY (which they played live together before).
Rodrigo introducing Crow last night: “Okay Nashville, I’m very excited because tonight we have a special guest. I think she’s one of the most talented, most wonderful, kindest human beings I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. I’ve been lucky enough to sing with her a few times and I’m even luckier to call her a friend. Will you guys please give it up for the incredible Sheryl Crow!”

At 62, Missouri born rock star SHERYL CROW keeps on rocking in the free world.
She canned her 12th album, named it EVOLUTION and will share it with her fans
on March 29.
She already shared 3 tracks. Alarm Clock, Evolution and Do It Again.
And today #4 went online. It’s a cover of PETER GABRIEL‘s
1992 song DIGGING IN THE DIRT from his Us album.
Crow: “Peter’s song is the one that started me on this whole process of making my new album Evolution, the first song I brought to Mike Elizondo. The idea of self-examination to understand our wounds and flaws and how they affect our daily lives really resonated with me, because that process can lead to self-healing. But it can be messy, it feels like digging in the dirt. Peter’s lyrics express that so beautifully, with this just ridiculous groove driving underneath. When he agreed to sing on my cover of “Digging In The Dirt,” it just blew me away, and ironically it ended up being the last song we finished for the album. It’s such an honor to have him perform on this song which really means so much to me, and there is nobody in the world who sings like Peter Gabriel.”
Gabriel joins Crow on the chorus. They groove, they funk, they rock.

Crow about the first single DO IT AGAIN: “I feel like I’ve been writing this song for
30 years. To me, life is one long exploration in how to live joyfully. Work in progress.”
But she confesses at one point in the song “Yeah, I’ll probably fuck it up again.”
As long as Crow is doing it this swirling
way she may do it again all the time.

As she’s a vivid fan of that other long-time rock/pop star Sheryl Crow
she recently recorded her cover of Crow‘s 2002 hit SOAK UP THE SUN.
