According to Kay Marriott, Steve‘s mother, Steve wrote this song about his split
with ex-fiancée Sue Oliver, though first wife Jenny Rylance states that Marriott told
her he wrote the song for her as a result of her split with Rod Stewart.

Score: #1 on the UK Singles Chart this day in 1966

legendary singer-songwriter and grumpy bear Van Morrison
Active: 1964-1972 / 3 LPs with Van Morrison (who left the band
after only 2 years)

Single: HERE COMES THE NIGHT
Third 7″, released in 1965.
#2 on the UK singles chart.

Remarkable thing on the sleeve: Morrison is laughing. Very rare!

The young Belfast Cowboy at his bluesy best.

Last April, 50 years ago, the highly influential/beloved band
released their sublime pop/rock debut album #1Record .

Although Thirtheen is its best known song, it was
rollin’ guitar cracker Don’t Lie To Me that was released
as a single.

volcanic and demonic. The song closed the Jimi Hendrix Experience‘s final
(a double one) album ‘Electric Ladyland‘, released in 1970.
