Band: ROXY MUSIC Active: 1970–1976, 1978–1983, 2001–2011
Album: SIREN – fifth LP Released: 24 October 1975 – 45 years ago
AllMusic wrote: “Abandoning the intoxicating blend of art rock and glam-pop that distinguished Stranded and Country Life, Roxy Music concentrate on Bryan Ferry’s suave, charming crooner persona for the elegantly modern ‘Siren’… Roxy embrace dance and unabashed pop on Siren, weaving them into their sleek, arty sound…The end result is captivating.” Score: 5/5.
Bryan Ferry: “Women? I have no idea. I don’t know anything about
women at all. They’re a complete mystery to me.”
Turn Up The Volume: All who tried to copy Roxy’s look, sound
and album artwork failed. Yep, a unique band.

Ex-Sonic Youth ringleader THURSTON MOORE seems to have a burst of creativity during this surreal coronavirus crisis. In spring, he entertained us with some old outtakes and rarities but also a new track called Cantaloupe from upcoming album By The Fire.
Another new cut from that LP just arrived. SIREN is a 12-minute jam sounding like if Moore was alone in the studio (at home) and went on and on until… the end. It’s a mind-boggling guitar and drums spiced groove with Moore deciding suddenly, around the 9-minute mark, to add some spacey vocals. A hypnotic trip making you feel relaxed and intoxicated.
