Significant longplayers from yesteryear
17 September 2026
Band: SPIRITUALIZED
Who: Former Spacemen 3 member Jason Pierce
and his band, floating in space regulary.
Active: 1990-present / 9 albums thus far.
Anniversary album: LET IT COME DOWN
Released: 17 Sept 2001 – 25 years ago today.
It took Jason Pierce four years to write, perform, produce and release.
The album utilises 115 session musicians, including an orchestra and
the London Community Gospel Choir.
Pitchfork wrote: “With all of Jason Pierce’s tormented vocals, with his talk
of addiction and recovery, of fractured love, of the burden of religion on the
soul; with all this, you’d expect him to be confined to a straitjacket. But rather,
he manages to make it all sound glorious, as if these rock-bottom moments
are equally responsible for the beauty of living, or of not dying.”
Turn Up The Volume: One of the best works of soul space
crusader Jason Pierce and his symphonic orchestra.
