Today 23 September is the astronomical season end of summer. Sniff, sniff.

Let’s say goodbye with a cast-iron band and one of their many cast-iron juggernauts.

Ladies and gents, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE with their 2002
jackhammer No One Knows at this year’s Glastonbury Festival.

Summer Live 2023 – Full BLONDIE Set At ISLE OF WIGHT FESTIVAL

19 September 2023

The legendary ISLE OF WIGHT FESTIVAL had its very first
edition in 1970, billed as a counterculture event. Over the
years, big names and new ones played the British island.

This year, one of the star acts was BLONDIE, fronted by DEBBIE HARRY.
One of the greatest frontwomen ever of one of the greatest pop groups
ever.

At 78, she’s still the visual attraction and the middle.
That’s what charisma is about. And she stills has fun
on stage.

Here’s their full set.

Summer 2023 Live – LE TIGRE (Feat. Kathleen Hanna) And The Crowd Going Bonkers In BALTIMORE

12 September 2023

Riot grrrl queen KATHLEEN HANNA (aged 54 now) is quite busy playing reunion tours.

Three years ago she hit the road with her most famous and iconic punk act Bikini Kill. Unfortunately, the Covid-19 lockdown torpedoed lots of gigs.

This year, Hanna started a sold-out reunion tour with Le Tigre last May. Last week they played in Baltimore Last July. The roof went off when they played Deceptacon, the classic cracker (more than 156 million streams on Spotify) from their 1999 self-titled debut LP.

FANTASTIC!

THE WAR ON DRUGS At Glastonbury 2023 With Spellbinding Rendition Of ‘UNDER THE PRESSURE’

Adam Granduciel and his band THE WAR ON DRUGS have become huge stars
over the years following 5 triumphant longplayers in 15 years with ‘I Don’t Live
Here Anymore’
as the most recent one (2021).

The Philly heroes were on this year’s Glastonbury bill and played a blistering set, including this spellbinding version of UNDER THE PRESSUREa> from their 2014 LP ‘Lost In The Dream’.

Superb.

Summer Live – Full Sparkling SPARKS Set At PRIMAVERA BARCELONA 2023

2 August 2023

The inseparable brothers Ron and Russell Mael, artistically known worldwide
for years now – since 1966 – as SPARKS are as productive, on and off stage,
as ever. Along the years they generated 3 generations of fans.

Last May they released their 25th LP, titled THE GIRL IS CRYING IN HER LATTE.
Another brisk pop triumph that got lots of accolades from the press. Not bad at
all for these imperishable musical siblings.

And live they’re also as fit as a fiddle. This and next year
it’s tour/album-promo time for the familial tandem.

Last June they played at the
Primavera Sound Festival

in Barcelona.

Here’s the full spark-ling set.

Summer Live – EDITORS With Electrifying Rendition Of ‘MUNICH’ At Last Month’s GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL

16 July 2023

British melodramatic rockers EDITORS turned me into an instant fan with their debut LP THE BACK ROOM that came out in 2005. A first-class post-punk-rock record. Afterward I slowly lost interest as the band went too mainstream, too soft, too unchallenging.

Anyway, MUNICH was/is a startling master-stroke from that debut.

They played it with vehemence at their set at last month’s Glastonbury Festival.

Electrifying.

Summer Live – Full Sweaty AMYL & THE SNIFFERS Set At PRIMAVERA SOUND 2023

15 July 2023

AMYL AND THE SNIFFERS are a non-stop volcanic rawk & roll bolide from down under, led by the utterly cool and stormy frontwoman Amyl Taylor. An uproarious Melbourne-based
noise turbine generating a lethal cocktail of The Runaways (Joan Jett‘s teenage band)
and metallic fury Plasmatics (with the legendary Wendy O. Williams) fueled by an eruptive MotΓΆrhead drive. So far they released two LPs. The self-titled debut (2019) and the follow-up Comfort To Me (2021).

Last month they unleashed their demons at Primavera Sound Festival in Madrid, Spain.

Lots of clamor.
Lots of sweat.
Lots of fun.

60.000 Exploded When KASABIAN Get On FIRE At TRNSMT In Scotland Last Weekend

Leicester champs KASABIAN are one of the best live bands I witnessed in
the past 15 years. Always a rapturous get-together party when they hit the
stage.

After launching their newest LP The Alchemist’s Euphoria last year, they
took the road and are still going hot on several summer festivals this year.

Last weekend they were in Scotland at the TRNSMT fest.

60.000 went bonkers and exploded when frontman Serge Pizzorno
whipped them up for an orgastic finale of their 2009 blast FIRE (more
than 153 million streams on Spotify).

This short snippet says it all.

JUMP JUMP JUMP

Two weeks ago I got fired up too when the band incited
the crowd with a blistering set at Rock Werchter in Belgium.
