Band: THE CRIBS (West Yorkshire, UK) Who: Beloved indie bros – one pair of twins and a young brother – from Wakefield, England, making riff-charged racket since 2001. Once upon a time Johnny Marr was
a member for a while.
New album: SELLING A VIBE
1st in 5 years, their 9th overall. Release: 9 January 2026.
Gary Jarman (bassist/lyricist) says: “‘Selling A Vibe’ is an unapologetic celebration of family. It’s about finding your way back to health with help from those loved ones. On our first records, we were just writing about our individual experiences.
That’s a really verdant field of inspiration, but as you go along, life points you towards
bigger things to write about But this time, I realised when I was writing the lyrics that
all of the songs were really rooted in family.”
In order to not miss a beat TURN UP THE VOLUME scans the musical
horizon daily, for 10 years now, to pick ace tracks and add 5 new ones
twice per week, to the one and only JUKEBOX playlist that matters.
Newest preview piece from their 3rd full-length.
It’s named No Hard Feelings, and shows up on
August 29th.
Leandra Earl (keyboards, guitar, backing vocals): “It’s about the shame I felt coming
out later in life and the pressure of trying to live up to ‘Lesbian of the Year,’ a title given
to me by my sweet fans. I feel regret for not knowing myself sooner, but this song is also
about the journey of self discovery & sexual identity and accepting that everyone is on
their own timeline and we’ll get there when we get there.”
Lava: “Even if you feel hopeless about the state of the world, use that
energy to genuinely double down on radically exuding compassion
and community action.”
