THE ROLLING STONES – Classic Album ‘BEGGARS BANQUET’ Came Out 45 Years Ago Today

Back in time

8 December 2023

THE ROLLING STONES released their 7th British
and 9th American studio LP, titled BEGGARS BANQUET
45 years ago today, on 6 December 2023.

TIME Magazine UK said: “England’s most subversive roisterers since Fagin’s
gang in ‘Oliver Twist’. In keeping with a widespread mood in the pop world, Beggars
Banquet turns back to the raw vitality of Negro R&B and the authentic simplicity of
country music.”

TUTV: If someone had said back then, 55 years ago, that The Rolling Stones
would still be around today – new album Hackney Diamonds just out – he
would have been locked up in a psychiatric hospital.

SYMPATHY FOR THE DEVIL (originally titled 1 + 1; also One Plus One, by the producer,
and distributed under that title in Europe) is a 1968 avant-garde movie shot by legendary famous French filmmaker JEAN-LUC GODDARD who passed away last year, aged 91.

It was a juxtaposing documentary, with fictional scenes and dramatised political readings. It featured the making/recording of the Stones infamous song Sympathy for the Devil at Olympic Studios in London.
