THE CONSCIENCE PILATE – Toronto Rock Team Score Big Time With New Rad Single ‘BLOOM’

Daily electricity to load your batteries

1 August 2023

Band: THE CONSCIENCE PILATE
Who: A seasoned Toronto rock team led by Edward Pond and Neil Leyton returning after a 25-year hiatus and playing guitar-driven pop music that combines the energy of CBGB’s post-punk with the texture of 80’s alternative.

New single: BLOOM

Pond: “We recorded Bloom like it’s for a secret John Hughes movie we all wish could exist. It’s that alternative pop sound the Furs and the Mary Chain had nailed in the 80s. A story about a couple where one is flat on their face while the other is up, and they see-saw back and forth.”

TUTV: First chord in and an enormous energy blasts out of your speakers.
Bloom is a crackerjack rocker rolling with a wall-of-manicial guitar sound, a
battering drum/bass tandem and intensified with eager vocals. Think Weezer
on their razor-edged best. Capisce? Say no more.

Waking Up With THE CONSCIENCE PILATE And Their ‘ARMY OF DEVILS’

Daily noise that works faster than any stimulant

THE CONSCIENCE PILATE is an indie tandem – Edward Pond (bass) and
Neil Leyton
(vocals, guitar) – from Toronto that produce guitar-driven pop
music which combines the energy of CBGB’s 70s post-punk with the texture
of 80’s alternative rock. They got together at university in 1995, released one
album named Living In A Movie Scene in 1996 and called it a day 2 years later.

Now after a 25-year hiatus, they decided to reunite and
immediately wrote ARMY OF DEVILS over a bottle of Rioja.

Pond: “Army of Devils is a song about not letting the demons in our
head mess up the good things in our life, and how sometimes we wreck
it a little anyway.”

Army Of Devils is a guitar-layered, straightforward rocker. Fiery, aflame
and flaring and intensified with ardent vocals. A frenetic feat that easily
could be on a Band Of Horses album. Americana rock the Canadian way.
