THE MOODY BLUES Topped UK Albums Chart With 4th LP ‘ON THE THRESHOLD OF A DREAM’ 50 Years Ago…

11 May 2019

ON THE THRESHOLD OF A DREAM is the fourth LP by British legends THE MOODY BLUES. It was their first No 1 LP in the UK when it was at the top spot of the UK albums chart this day 50 years ago, on 11 May 1969. It remained in the charts for 70 weeks!

Most people only know The Moody Blues for their 1967 classic ballad NIGHTS IN WHITE SATIN. But this splendid album shows that this underrated band (nobody names them
in a ‘the biggest of all time list‘ including The Beatles & Stones, The Small Faces, The Kinks etc.)
was one with an epoch-making musical vision, a sophisticated skill for writing top-notch pop tunes and drench them sonically well in the psychedelic bath everybody was playing in at that time. If you want to know where today’s bands such as Aussie collective King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard gets its inspiration from then have listen to this striking magnum opus…
