THE PRODIGY Released Their Flaming Techno Hammer ‘FIRESTARTER’ This Day 30 Years Ago

Top singles from the past

18 March 2026

British techno titans THE PRODIGY released their
UK No. 1 single FIRESTARTER today, 30 years ago,
on 18 March 1996.

It featured on their 3rd LP
The Fat Of The Land.

The ferocious hammer credited, among others, The Breeders’ Kim Deal,
as the looped wah-wah guitar riff in the song was sampled from the band’s
track S.O.S. from the album Last Splash.

R.I.P. Keith Flint.

Wake Up And BREATHE Along With THE PRODIGY At COACHELLA FESTIVAL

Daily noise that works faster than a stream of caffeine

15 April 2025

Last weekend Coachella Festival (Coachella Valley, Indio, California) experienced its
first weekend of its 24th edition featuring techno titans THE PRODIGY who lost their
main frontman Keith Flint 5 years ago when he took his own life (March 2019).

After the fateful event the band, obviously, needed a break to mourn and reflect.

In the summer of 2022, they announced their return to the stage with a 10-date tour
of the UK, to coincide with the 25th anniversary of their 3rd LP The Fat Of The Land.

Last February the band told in a press statement
that a new album is coming sometime this year.

And last Friday they breathed at
Coachella Fest and shocked the
desert.

Already 3 Years Today – R.I.P. KEITH FLINT (The Prodigy)

4 March 2022

Keith Charles Flint was born on 17 September 1969 in Redbridge, London.

He started his musical career in 1990 as a dancer for Liam Howlett‘s techno-punk
project The Prodigy. He became the flamboyant co-vocalist in 1996 with the band’s
third LP The Fat Of The Land and the group’s eccentric and heated performer
on stage along with Maxim.

Three years ago today, on 4 March 2019, he took his own life.
Only 49. Sad, really sad. Rest in peace.

Three great Keith Flint moments…

– NO GOOD (Start The Dance)
(Keith as the long-haired dancer)

– FIRESTARTER –
(Punked-up star)

– BREATHE –
(Live)

Nobody Can Stop Firestarters TOYAH And ROBERT FRIPP

10 May 2021

Nothing or nobody can stop TOYAH, her husband/soulmate ROBERT
FRIPP
and friend Sydney from going loco every week – since April 2020 –
with their Sunday Lunch cover sessions.

This time they picked a not-so-obvious, but fitting, cracker from British
electro bulldozers The Prodigy. Again their hilarious performance will
put a big smile on your face.

Start the fire here and go loco too…
