A Modern-Day Post-Punk Götterdämmerung Experience With Trance Crusaders THE PSYCHOTIC MONKS In Brussels

THE PSYCHOTIC MONKS – Botanique, Brussels – 20 March 2023

French post-psych-punk crusaders THE PSYCHOTIC MONKS,
formed in 2015. They released their new, third and stupefying
album, named PINK COLOUR SURGERY last February.

Vicious Circle Records introduced it as follows: “Their 3rd album, Pink Color Surgery, produced by Daniel Fox of the group Gilla Band and composed in part by a work of improvisations finally comes to us as an act of resistance to the ambient violence. Disconcerting at first sight, this new opus operates in the dark a surgery of ethics which is fleshed out in pink for a stunning metamorphosis. Pink Color Surgery is like the hidden room of a house we have never entered and the possibility of feeling good there is not excluded.”

Last night the Monks hit the stage in Brussels and dragged the flabbergasted crowd into
the puzzling psyche of their new ominous record. PM are trance priests. They take you on a mindboggling rollercoaster, on a modern-day Götterdämmerung odyssey with a melting pot of dark disco-punk, enigmatic psychedelic distortion, pitch-black gloominess, brain-breaking grooves, and alternating vocals by all four members. With The Psychotic Monks Doomsday will be a party-hard gathering.

And this will be the perfect soundtrack.

Brain-Breaking Doomsday Psychedelia – French Force THE PSYCHOTIC MONKS Drop Single ‘ISOLATION’

Daily fuel to load your batteries

(photo: Clara Marguerat)

French psychedelic force THE PSYCHOTIC MONKS, formed in 2015,
unleash their new, second longplayer PRIVATE MEANING FIRST this
Friday, 27th November.

The LP was recorded in near-total isolation in the French countryside
where they deliberately created a claustrophobic environment, resulting
in a tense atmosphere that can be heard throughout the album.

Early October they shared the pitch-black, storming lead-single Closure.

Today the band dropped another piece, titled ISOLATION, clearly made to have a brain-breaking impact. No birds and bees fairy tales for these far-out bohemians. Expect a sort of ominous Texas Chainsaw Massacre jam. A Doomsday trip moving like a nasty serpent on its destructive way. A hypnotizing Krautrock trash and slash discharge going forth and back. You have been warned.

Shiver here…

.
This live version is pretty dazzling too…

And here the eye-catching short film for crushing lead-single CLOSER

A Hypnotizing Rollercoaster From Paris – Discover… THE PSYCHOTIC MONKS

Havoc that thrills us in a way we want to scream out loud…

shoutout

Please welcome from Paris, France: THE PSYCHOTIC MONKS. This amazing gang will release their debut LP ‘Silence Slowly and Madly Shines’ on 21 April. Single IT’S GONE
will give you an idea of their deranged mental state. It’s a quiet/LOUD/quiet/LOUD
stoner rock roller coaster. Haunting and menacing from start to finish. I don’t know
what abbey these French monks come from but living locked up surely messed up
their heads. Ace! Play this sonic madness very loud and lose yourself completely!…
