BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN Released His RAMONES Single ‘HUNGRY HEART’ Today 45 Yeasr Ago

Top singles from the post

21 October 2025

THE BOSS earned his first Top-5 hit in the US with HUNGRY HEART.
The single was released this day 45 years ago, on 21 October 1980.

The song was part of his fifth album The River.

One day Springsteen met Joey Ramone in Asbury Park, New Jersey, who asked
him to write a song for the Ramones. He then composed ‘Hungry Heart‘, but
decided to keep it for himself on the advice of his producer and manager,
Jon Landau.

Previously, upbeat and catchy Springsteen songs such as ‘Blinded by the Light’,
‘Because the Night’,
and ‘Fire‘ had been given away and become hits for others,
and Landau preferred the trend not continue.

Too bad, I really would have known what
the Ramones would have done with
the song.

The title is drawn from a line in Alfred Tennyson (1809-1892)
famous poem Ulysses: “For always roaming with a hungry heart”.

“Everybody’s got a hungry heart
Lay down your money and you play your part
Everybody’s got a h-h-hungry heart

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN Released His Double Album ‘THE RIVER’ 45 Years Ago

Significant longplayers from the past

17 October 2025

The now 76-year-old rock prodigy BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN
released his 5th LP THE RIVER on 17 October 1980, today
45 years ago.

#1 in the US and Canada, #2 in the UK

Pitchfork wrote: “Bruce Springsteen’s fifth album gushes forth with the fury
of a burst dam, delivering torrents of despair, inspiration, heartbreak, and joy.
‘The River’ brought Bruce to those heights, giving him his first number one album
and Top 10 single.”

Bruce: “The E Street band casts a pretty wide net. Our influences go all the way
back to the early primitive garage music, and also, we’ve had everything in the
band from jazz players to Kansas City trumpet players to Nils Lofgren, one of the
great rock guitarists in the world.”

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN Plays Affecting Acoustic Version Of ‘THE RIVER’ On American TV

µ

The Boss was born to run 72 years ago and he’s still running.
He’s one of those music addicts that will record/play until their
last breath. No retirement for Bruce.

A couple of days ago he was the main guest on
the American Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

He played a, both tender and affecting, acoustic
version of the title track of his 1980 album The River.

LIAM GALLAGHER And His Son On A Roll On ‘Later With Jools Holland’ – Here’s ‘THE RIVER’…

This week mister LIAM GALLAGHER made a bang-up appearance on BBC’s legendary TV Show ‘Later… With Jools Holland’. One of the songs he performed was THE RIVER, one of the rockiest pieces on his new Number One album Why Me? Why Not. Cool thing was that Liam‘s son Gene was one of the two drummers (the one with the hat on).

Ladies and gents, here’s the Liam Gallagher Family

LIAM GALLAGHER Drops Another Track From New Solo LP – Here’s ‘THE RIVER’…

Daily fuel to load your sonic batteries…

LIAM GALLAGHER is mad for it (and he always will be). But not in the hedonistic teenage ‘let’s get wasted’ way as 25 years ago. He still rocks, he still rolls but he also cares about what is going on today for his family, for his older self and for humanity overall. He speaks out about the idiocy of Brexit, about the evil sides of social media for kids and about other important issues you would never have expected coming from this “tonight I’m a rock ‘n’ roll star” party animal.

His second solo LP, entitled ‘WHY ME, WHY NOT‘ will hit the streets on 20th September. The man says about it: “I want this second album to be a step-up, because the hardest thing to do is to make something the same, only better. So that’s what we’ve done. It’s a better record than ‘As You Were’. Which is saying something, as that was epic, wasn’t it?”

After sharing ace lead single ‘Shockwave‘ here’s corker number two called ‘THE RIVER’ .
A swaggering Liam rocker. Turn it up here, folks, Liam is showing the way…
