London‘s synth-pop idols HOT CHIP released their jubilant
2nd LP THE WARNING today 20 years ago, on 22 May 2006.
With this sophomore HC created an LP that was received much more
focused and pop friendly. One critic said: “A step away from Prince and
a step towards LCD Soundsystem”.
It peaked at #43 in the UK and #13 on the US Dance Charts.
NME: “There’s something of New Order in Hot Chip. The same
mix of art school-meets-working man demeanour.”
Infamous Mexican siblings THE WARNING infuse rock music with a much-needed shot of adrenaline. The Monterrey, Mexico trio of sisters. Daniela “Dany” (guitar, lead vocals, piano), Paulina “Pau” (drums, vocals, piano), and Alejandra “Ale” Villarreal (bass, piano, backing vocals) charge forward with head-spinning riffs, unpredictable rhythms, stadium-size beats, and skyscraping vocals, making millions of fans go mental in the process.
And now, to warm/heat up for their massive 2024 TOUR we get new single S!CK (2022).
TUTV: Wham bloody wham bam. The three she-sisters-devils continue their world conquering crusade with this sick herculean sledgehammer. Roll over L7, roll over Evanescence and roll over Beethoven, here are The Warning . They sound drop-dead gorgeous, they look drop-dead gorgeous, they were born drop-dead gorgeous.
S!CK attacks your greedy ears and your poor stereo with monstrous riffs, muscular drumming and sharp-teethed vocals. And the earth-quaking chorus aims at the moon. Think Australian bulldozers Wolfmother fronted by Miles Cyrus taking you on a crashing mission to Terrordome. Sound pretty bitchy, right? You betcha. Hail Hail!
