THE STONE ROSES Released ‘MADE OF STONE’ Single 30 Years Ago Today…

Sonic knockouts from the past

6 March 2019

Made Of Stone‘ by THE STONE ROSES

The stellar lead single of their eponymous debut album – one of the best longplayers
ever to Turn Up The Volume‘s ears – ‘Made Of Stone‘ was released 30 years ago today,
on 6 March 1989, but didn’t chart. The lovely Going Down, a tribute to expressionist painter Jackson Pollok was on the B-side. The single came out on their first, small,
record label Silvertone Records and became a Roses classic over the years.

Here we go…

Sometimes I fantasize
When the streets are cold and lonely
And the cars they burn below me
Don’t these times fill your eyes
When the streets are cold and lonely
And the cars, they burn below me
Are you all alone?
Is anybody home?

Today’s Yesterday Track… DAVID BOWIE’s Monumental Single ‘LIFE ON MARS’ Released 44 Years Ago…

Golden oldies to soundtrack the summer of 2017…

Artist: DAVID BOWIE

Track: LIFE ON MARS

Released : as a single 22 July 1973 – 44 years ago today

Album: the awesome song was already on the legend’s 1971 Hunky Dory LP, but only came out as a single almost two years later reaching #3 on the British charts. Mick Rock filmed/directed the promo clip backstage at Earls Court Arena (London) on 12 May 1973.

Note: still a stunning song and an outstanding vocal performance. Timeless gem. Top!
