‘Traditional Techniques’ – New Second Solo Longplayer By STEPHEN MALKMUS…

Old and new albums to make your day…

11 March 2020

Artist: Stephen Malkmus

Album: Traditional Techniques

Pitchfork ” The former Pavement frontman—never someone who seemed interested in making a straightforward acoustic album, comes through with an unexpectedly deft and learned folk record. ‘Traditional Techniques’ easily succeeds as a curiosity, its songs continue
to delight after the novelty wears off. The most surprising thing about the album isn’t how
far Malkmus has strayed from his comfort zone. It’s how at home he sounds there.”

Turn Up The Volume says: After Pavement split up Malkmus started a busy career with
his main band The Jicks but released also music with Silver Jews and The Crust Brothers. This second solo longplayer returns, musically to the past, with crystal clear echoes from The Velvet Underground with Malkmus voice sounding almost identical to Lou Reed‘s vox at times, Neil Young and Crazy Horse and The Band. Americana the Malkmus way. Top effort.
