Dutch symphonic metal band WITHIN TEMPTATION fronted by
majestic voice Sharon Den Adel go a way back, almost 30 years
and 8 albums.
They just released a documentary, titled The Invisible Force. “A film about
resilience, perseverance and the importance of music during the darkest of times.”
One of the soundtrack’s songs is SING LIKE A SIREN. It features Ukrainian
songstress Jerry Heil. It’s a monumental anti-war symphony that causes
goosebumps.

New single: SPUN
The title track from their forthcoming, 9th LP, out June 6th via their own
label Ghost Ramp. It follows the two earlier shared projectile Goner and So Long.
The movie takes its title from an Iggy Pop song, that opened
his 1977 solo debut longplayer. Kandhar says that Pop“was like
a breadcrumb trail I followed through the unconscious as I wrote
the film.”
Along with the instrumental compositions, Banks
also covered a couple of Pop/Stooges‘s early songs.
Banks: “‘Gimme Danger’ is one of my favorite Stooges songs, and ‘Sister Midnight’ I was less familiar with, but it is the titular track of a film that is feral with Stoogian grit and joy, so I was equally excited to immerse myself in it and find an interpretation that felt authentic to my voice.”

As communicated before Australian inexhaustible prog-psych-rock squad KING GIZZARD & THE LIZARD WIZARD have recorded a full album with an
orchestra, simultaneously with the making of their 2024 album Flight b741.
It’s their 27th full lenght in 15 years, named PHANTOM ISLAND,
and it will make our ears happy from June 13th on.
British historical keyboardist, conductor, and arranger Chad Kelley helped flesh out tracks that needed more
gestation.
Stu Mackenzie: ““He brings this wealth of musical awareness to his chameleon-like arrangements. We come from such different worlds. He plays Mozart and Bach and uses
the same harpsichords they did, and tunes them the exact same way. But he’s obsessed with microtonal music, too, and all this nerdy stuff like me. A lot of love and time and energy and patience and growth went into this one. Can’t wait to grow wings and fly with all of you.”

L.A.-based electro rock artist Harrison Patrick Smith aka THE DARE who easily could be
LCD Soundsystem main man James Murphy‘s sonic twin brother launched his career 10 years ago as Turtlenecked, released several LPs and then became The Dare scoring a huge hit with Girls in 2022. His debut LP What’s Wrong With New York? came out last year.
Smith now dropped a cover of a song by the The Sound, the popular post-punk band from London (1979-1988) fronted by Adrian Borland who took his own life after years of heavy problems with depression.
Smith‘s take on I CAN’T ESCAPE MYSELF works surprisingly well,
capturing the desperation and mental pain of the original 1980 gem.

After more than 30 years GARBAGE still have their original line-up.
Vocalist/lyricist Shirley Manson, bassist Duke Erikson, guitarist Steve
Marker and drummer Butch Vig.
Manson:: “I am outraged by the way the world treats blacks and browns and gays and
trans peoples and animals and women. Living in America over the last couple of years, the absolute war on women in America is astounding. All the rights that we felt had been secured are starting to get pushed back into the Middle Ages. It is something that I can no longer tolerate silently. It’s not just infuriating, it’s alarming. It’s frightening.”
It’s Sunday, stay in bed, press

British romantics ELBOW released their 4th No. 1 album, called Audio Vertigo last year.
Now, in a press statement they announced a new EP, named Audio Vertigo Echo.
It will feature last year’s stand-alone single Adriana Again and three brand new tracks, with SOBER as one of them.
Frontman Guy Garvey: “We are having more fun in the studio than ever before.
Craig’s on fire as a producer, Pete and Alex are the coolest rhythm section working and Pot’s unpredictable rhythm guitar has started working its way into such a soulful and accomplished place. The words are all stories from my past, sometimes joyful, often dark, but all of it exciting and mostly true. It feels like we’re having another go on the Waltzers after hours.”
Wake up people, put your dance
shoes and follow Elbow to the disco.

Back in the day (1977-1984) British punkettes THE RAINCOATS
were one of the top indie bands in the UK. They released 3 LPs,
then called it a day.
In 1993 they reunited, fabricated another album (1996),
launched reissues and rarities and gigged now and then.
Co-founder/bassist GINA BURCH was/is very active as a film/videomaker
(she worked for big names such as The Libertines and New Order and
worked with other musicians such as Red Crayola .
In 2023 she released her critically acclaimed solo debut
LP I Play My Bass . It was released through Jack White’s
Third Man Records.
New album artwork
She just announced the upcoming birth of her 2nd one.
It’s named Trouble and will land on 11 July, again via Third Man Records.
Along with the news comes first single CAUSING TROUBLE AGAIN.
A vigorous anthem citing a cast of women who’ve stirred shit up over
the years such as Nina Simone, Patti Smith, Mary Douglas, Peaches, Dolly
Parton, Sinead O’Connor and a lot of heroines more.
Birch about the accompanying video “After hearing Bob Dylan sing about a white
ladder all covered with water, I became obsessed with white ladders. I decided to use
five white ladders, three with seven rungs. realized later that this references Jacob’s Ladder
and a connection from Earth to heaven, but I think I was thinking of ladders as a symbol of getting on, getting up. I wanted to have a choreographed movement with four of us with these ladders. How do we move with ladders? Do we move together, do we fight, do we dance?”
I also wanted to reference the wind scene from the film, The Colour of Pomegranates, and to include as many artist women from the Women in Revolt exhibition as I could. I wanted them
to be troublesome, or just to shout “Causing trouble!” I ended up inviting all the artist musician women I knew who could make the shoot, and it was a fantastic meeting of great women, many of whom had never met each other before.”
Wake up, and listen to the riot
raincoat girl rockin’ again.

Band: COLA Who: Australian indie outfit that rose out of the ashes of those other pretty good indies from down under, Ought. They have (so far) released two albums. Deep In View (2022) and The Gloss (2024).
New single: MENDICANT
Warming-up for their upcoming tour.
Tim Darcy: “Mendicant’ came together quickly for us in our usual writing flow, but it was really asking for another element in the mix. Ben gamely took a stab at tracking whistle and Uilleann Pipes, an instrument he’s been learning in his spare time. Add that to his discogs profile friends because he laid down the heat. The lyrics are a playful investigation of being a humble beggar of sorts, a person freed from need with their aura primed to headnod to some whistle.”
