WARPAINT Celebrate Their 20th Birthday With New Single ‘COMMON BLUE’

New striking strokes

18 February 2024

Last week, on Valentine’s Day, Los Angeles’ popular rock/pop Amazons WARPAINT celebrated their 20th birthday as a band. Not that they a prolific band with only
4 albums in those 20 years.

Jenny Lee (singer/bassist): “I feel like there’s so many lives lived in the last 20 years.
Different scenes, every couple of years something changes up. To look back to 2004,
it feels like I’ve lived many lives. And it’s also gone by so quick too that it’s a trip, it’s
psychedelic.”

For the occasion they recorded/released a one-off musing single COMMON BLUE

L. A. Ladies WARPAINT Share Impressive Video For Single ‘HIPS’ Off Their New Album

The ladies of L.A. band WARPAINT
released their 4th LP RADIATE LIKE THIS,
last May, their first in six years.

For funky tune HIPS, one of the album’s singles
they canned a video clip with director Jim Hosking.

“’Hips’ has a scuttling intensity to it. It sounds like someone desperately trying to find
something. Or at least that’s what it seemed to me. I listened to it repeatedly and kept seeing women desperately searching for each other in a seaside town. Ideas present themselves and it’s not about logic or reason, it’s about emotion. And here the emotion suggested identically dressed women finding each other in an old seaside town in England called Southend On Sea.”

people you love, proving the band can’t be tied to a specific scene… a tribute to what you
can accomplish when creating with people you love – to feeling supported in exploring
some of life’s most complex offerings, yet maintaining curiosity and a sense of fun. And,
as ‘Radiate Like This’ shows us, that never goes out of style.”

Review here. Score: 4/5.

Turn Up The Volume: All sorts of vibes. Moody, trippy, soulful and
several lazy ones. But, unfortunately, no vibes that invited me to play
them several times in a row. Bummer.

WARPAINT Cover GANG OF FOUR – A Double Tribute Album Comes In May

20 March 2021

A Gang Of Four – Andy Gill tribute album called The Problem Of Leisure
comes out on 28 May to honor the great, influential post-punk band from
Leeds, England
and their legendary guitarist Andy Gill who passed away
in early 2020, only 64. Order info here.

All-female indie rock band Warpaint responded to the invitation for this LP
with a smooth and trippy version of Paralysed, the opening track of GOF‘s
1981 LP Solid Gold.

Gill‘s widow Catherine Mayer “Andy loved the way Warpaint created not only
songs but atmospheres, without sacrificing drive and danceability. The marriage
of their unique sound with ‘Paralysed,’ on the face of it one of the least likely dance
tracks ever, is spectacular.”

Your New Favorite High Priestess of Electro Pop – Here’s FRANKIE SIMONE With ‘WARPAINT’…

Clips that will have an impact on your eyes and your ears…

VivaVideo

7 March 2018

Here’s a truly special artist out of Portland, Oregon. FRANKIE SIMONE ” offers a vision of pop music as a conduit for collective enlightenment, self-empowerment and awakening. Pop rarely transcends the constraints of dominant culture — but Simone’s incantations of radical self-love aren’t just transcendent, they’re transformative. Her music exists, she says, ‘to celebrate every type of human. Her vision is confident and fearless—especially for an artist just getting started on her musical journey—and she’s eager to share the credit with her wife, dancer and performance artist ‘Che Che Luna Luna’. Sharing the stage, they create something both powerful and vulnerable, soulful and radical.”

Frankie Simone just released WARPAINT, the opening track of her upcoming debut EP.
A magnetizing Loud.Quiet.Loud electro banger spiced with voodoo-like drums, mighty
deep bass, Frankie‘s explicit soul voice and an overall sensual explosiveness that will
make your body shake uncontrollably and that will have a funky impact on all of your lustful senses in a most pleasing way. Here’s a bona fide star in the making, here’s ‘Warpaint‘ and its splendiferous clip. Roll it and shake your booty…
