English power pop-rock trio WHITE LIES are heading towards
their 20th anniversary as a band. OMG! Time flies indeed.
They’re gearing up for their 7th LP, called NIGHT LIGHT. It’ll make their countless
fans jump in the air when it comes out on November 7th. Pre-order info here.
Press info: White Lies approached their seventh album with a fresh method: mastering the songs live before recording them. The trio decided to rehearse and refine the tracks together in a room before entering the studio – a reversal of the process of finding the true spirit of songs only after touring them.
Much of the album was recorded in frontman Harry McVeigh’s London flat, opting for simplicity over gear-heavy setups. They focused on songwriting and chemistry, relying
on their 17-year musical bond to shape the album’s energy.
Night Light spans progressive rock, disco, and synth-driven soundscapes, showing
a band both confident and creatively energized. The album closes with the pulsating ‘In The Middle’, showcasing their unity and matured artistry.”

New piece from his 9th solo album (that’s already one more than
with Talking Heads), named Who Is The Sly?. It’ll see the day of
light on September 5th.
The second single from their 11th LP
called Wild Loneliness, out 25 February.
Mac McCaughan (guitarist) About: “Like much of Wild Loneliness, this song was
written in the mode of “let’s look around and be thankful for what we have rather
than focusing on what Republicans have taken from an entire generation.”
Almost three years after their debut album Silver Tongues this must-hear
post-punk hit team returns with follow-up Beware Believers, out 1st of April.
James Cox (frontman): “Slowly Separate is about living in London, working a job
you hate and just going through the mundane routine of hand to mouth living.”
A blazing uppercut with the
cutting force of a chainsaw.
I’m not a big fan of remixes unless the remixer – in this case, electro duo Flight Facilities – transforms a head-dazzling rocker into a head-dazzling
disco stomper that works like a vaccination with a shot of adrenalin.
I’m sure that this Big Apple indie squad has all Parquet Courts records on their shelves. You already could hear it on their 2019 debut album Endless Scroll and their second one, titled Broken Equipment looks to go in the same direction when hearing new single Thrown.
Not original but tumbling
and revolving nevertheless…
7. ‘Fraggle Rock Rock’ by FOO FIGHTERS (Seattle, US)
Seems like Dave Grohl and his Fighters adore the spotlights
and do anything to have them shine on them every day.
Check this… children’s television series Fraggle Rock gets a full revival on Apple TV+ and yes, you already guessed it, the Foos are among the musical guests on the show. For the occasion, they wrote this bonkers retro rocker that triggers your laughing muscles.
The band: “We wrote this song really quickly, late one night and often
the songs that come quickest are written from the gut and the heart. We
wanted the melody to feel like a hymn, to give the confessional lyrics weight
despite being wrapped up as a pop song. It’s about accepting vulnerability
as a man and knowing it’s OK to be broken. There’s never been a more
pressing time to spread the message that it’s OK to not be OK.”.”
The new piece is a moody electro earworm,
bringing Editors to mind. Fetching and catching.
