Young Soul Star SAM COOKE Was Shot Dead 60 Years Ago Today

Young soul star SAM COOKE, born in Clarksdale, Mississippi, U.S on 22 January 1931,
known as the King Of Soul, was shot dead at a motel in Los Angeles on 11 December 1964, today 60 years ago. The female manager of the motel told the police that she shot Cooke in self-defence because he had attacked her.

Police found Cooke‘s body in de manager’s apartment-office, clad only in a sports
jacket and shoes, but no shirt, pants or underwear. The shooting was ultimately
ruled a justifiable homicide. He was only 33.
