At the age of 77, veteran Texan country icon JOE ELY is one of those imperishable singer/songwriters who has been around like forever (since 1970 and countless LPs),
and he has no intention to enjoy his long-overdue pension yet. Like Dolly Parton (78),
Willie Nelson (91), Emmylou Harris (77) and Crystal Gale (73), just to name a few, he has music in his DNA. Btw, punk legends The Clash were Joe Ely fans. Fact! Check here.

Ely has bagged a new LP, titled DRIVEN TO DRIVE
to be released on August 2. More info here.

The first single ODDS OF THE BLUES is now out.
It features Bruce The Boss Springsteen.

Ely: “I got the idea for the song from hanging out at an all night after hours joint on
the edge of east Lubbock called TV’s… there was always a dice game in the back room,
the pool table had a bad lean, and the jukebox mainly played old blues songs. I wrote
the song later when I put my studio together in Austin. I asked Bruce recently if he would
like to sing with me on this song and he said he’d love to.”

“We’ve been long lost friends for a long time. One of my memories of us singing together
was in Dublin, Ireland when we both got on stage with Jerry Lee Lewis and Shane MacGowan and sang ‘Great Balls Of Fire.’”

Odds Of The Blues is 100% vintage Americana splendor. Irresistibly groovy and
terrifically catchy with a 24-carat-gold swagger, and last but not least… two sublime
voices.
