Fresh impulses for your ears…
The Mods are back with new track B.H.S. from forthcoming album English Tapas. A biting tirade on controversial British businessman Philip Green. The accompanying video was filmed on the Thames just before Christmas. Join the trip here…
The new record English Tapas will be out on 3 March. Vocalist Jason Williamson revealed the story behind the album’s tasty title: “Andrew (note TUTV: the other Mod) walked into some random pub and saw “English Tapas” scrawled on the menu board. Underneath this beautiful coupling of words were its components, half a scotch egg, cup of chips, pickle and a mini pork pie. It says everything about this fucking place. It’s comedy, it’s make do, it’s ignorant and above all, it’s shit.”
Everything these guys have done for a while has been so good. My morning jog is regularly sound-tracked by Sleaford Mods quips, screams and beats and the novelty of his lighter comments don’t wear off because the more aloof lyrics never let your mind settle on a subject for long and I’m constantly making new connections between his themes in my head (often very sure that they are a very particular interpretation but the “death of the Author” suits me). I would recommend anyone who likes their recordings to see them live, but I think they’re the sort of music that gathers the type of music/performance fan that wants to see it in real life anyway.
Yes, absolutely, we need bands like these!
Also, yay for sticking it to Philip disustGreen.
