Happy 61 To SHANE MACGOWAN…
25 December 2018
Shane Patrick Lysaght MacGowan was born to Irish parents in Tunbridge Wells, Engeland on Christmas Day 61 years ago today and became one of the best singer/songwriters and genuine performers of all time and yes, he also saved a couple of breweries and distilleries from going bankrupt. Let’s celebrate the man with that big Xmas classic we all know. I chose this particular version because of that sweet little dance Shane had with the late great Kirsty MacColl and… with Camille O’Sullivan (years later, in 2012), at the end of this video. Happy Xmas, happy birthday…

Berlin Based Foursome JANIS Passionately In Love – Here’s Their Brand New Single ‘ALEXANDER’…
Reveries for the laziest day of the week…
23 December 2018
After last month’s release of bewitching debut single A Moment Of Weakness
Berlin-based foursome JANIS just launched another impressive track. ALEXANDER
is an obsessive love song, a total glorification of queen Alexander, a manic celebration
of an intimate bond between lovers. Well, that’s the first part’s impression, but as the
song moves on the tone – of the music and the vocals – gets darkishly intense, even minatory. Maybe the beloved queen is only an illusion, a hallucination, a phantasm, making her worshiper go mad over it when he realizes that he’s only dreaming.
I’ll let you decide for yourself…

THE FLAMING LIPS Turn ‘PEACE ON EARTH/LITTLE DRUMMER BOY’ Into A Psychedelic Visual…
Daily fuel to load your sonic batteries…
Eccentric psych rockers THE FLAMING LIPS definitely win this year’s Xmas cover contest. Although their musical interpretation of David Bowie‘s and Bing Crosby‘s 1977 hit medley PEACE ON EARTH/LITTLE DRUMMER BOY is sweet and soft it’s the accompanying clip that takes the holy spirit to another level. The Lips look like psychedelic Santa‘s from outer space on a LSD trip. Join them here…

SIOUXSIE AND THE BANSHEES With French Xmas Carol ‘I’l EST NÉ, LE DIVIN’…
Daily fuel to load your sonic batteries…
21 December 2018
Back in 1982 SIOUXSIE AND THE BANSHEES, with The Cure‘s Robert Smith as temporary member, covered a traditional French Christmas carol called ‘I’l Est Né Divin Enfant‘ (‘He is born, the divine child’) which was published for the first time in 1862 by the organist of the Cathedral of Saint-Dié-des-Vosges. It was released as the B-side on the single ‘Melt‘, a great track from their excellent A Kiss In The Dreamhouse. Siouxsie in French, pretty special…
Hallelujah! Let’s all sing for peace,
tolerance, equality and unity…
