American singer/songwriters Matt Sweeney and Bonnie “Prince” Billy
(who seems to sleep with his guitar lately. He’s everywhere) joined forces
in 2005 for a longplayer called Superwolf.

They got together again to can another LP, titled,
eh… Superwolves. Out 30 April. More info here.

One of the 14 tracks is MY BLUE SUIT. A characteristic
troubadour ballad. Smooth, mellow, and romantic.

Who: Indie team from Newcastle upon Tyne, UK who
impresses with rambling and energetic psychedelic rock.

EP: ISOLATION – the band’s debut.
About: Exploring themes of modern living, such as alienation
in the face of technology and the pressure imposed by the rapidly
growing debt collection industry.

Score: First things first. The artwork of this EP is drop-dead cool. Now about
the music. These hungry gunslingers combine the angry in-your-face frustration
of early punk (Crank Bugs/Isolation), the I want more curiosity of new-wave (Heads
Will Roll) and the turbulent dynamism of noise rock (Isolation). No rest for the wicked. Blustery guitars all over the place, manic drum hits, and combative Richard Hell vocals. 2021 is the new Orwellian 1984. And Radio Silence don’t like it all.

out in May, a couple of weeks ago and shared two cuts so far, Vendetta

Amazing Grace – SARAH WALK With Goosebumps Version Of ‘NOTHING COMPARES 2 U’

SARAH WALK is a Los Angeles based singer-songwriter with
a crystal voice balancing between chanteuses Angel Olsen and
Sharon Van Etten.

She recently shared an amazing version of global hit Nothing
Compares 2 U written and recorded by the late great Prince
and made world-famous by Sinead O’Connor back in 1990.

Walk: “I didn’t want to get too inside the other versions that
already existed because I wanted to make sure I approached
it my own way.”

Her version is wholly affecting with an ongoing magnetic piano
touch, a heavy-hearted orchestration, and her goosebumps
voice. Mesmeric rendition!

A Joy Division Nightmare In Slow Motion – ‘FIST’ From ALAN VEGA’s Lost Album

In 1995/1996 ALAN VEGA, half of synth-punk pioneers Suicide
and his wife Liz Lamere, recorded an album called MUTATOR.
But it never saw the day of light. Then, back in 2019 Lamere and
close Vega friend Jared Artaud discovered the original tapes and
decided to mix the songs into a proper LP.

The lost album will be released
by Sacred Bones Records
on 23 April. Order info here.

We already got a vintage Vega jam from Mutator called
Nike Soldier (see clip below). And here’s another cut.
FIST echoes like a Joy Division nightmare in slow motion.

His widow Lamere: “Fist’s relentless forward movement of the music coupled with
Vega’s battle cry lyrics makes it a powerful call for action to the people to muster their
power, come together and Make One Nation. The message is timely, the impact timeless.”

Post Punk Sensation BLACK MIDI Returns With Two New Pieces For Upcoming LP

Who: Post-punk noise freaks from London who made
one of this Century’s best debut albums with astounding

John L is another schizophrenic sonic stunner jumping from
left to right while turning your mind upside down. Second track
Despair is a weird sort of ballad, like Scott Walker loves them

Clarke) and Casket Girls.

The band is named after a chalk cliff in Sussex, UK.
One of Britain’s most popular beauty spots but,
unfortunately, also a notorious suicide spot.

If members of daydream bands team-up you may
expect sonic, cinematic paintings like this first broody
