Beatle GEORGE HARRISON (25 February 1943 – 29 November 2001)
topped the US Singles Chart with MY SWEET LORD this day in 1970.
In February 1971 Harrison was accused of alleged copyright infringement
regarding a song called He’s So Fine written by Ronnie Mack in 1963, and
made popular by The Chiffons. After a court case, Harrison was convicted
to pay $1,599,987.

Danish psychedelic glam and glitter rock tandem THE RAVEONETTES have not retired (yet). Yes, it’s been 8 years since their last album Pe’ahi, but they still tour and early next year the pair will release a 10″-Cover-EP to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of their 8-track mini debut LP Rip It Off.
But today on Xmas day, as every year since 2003,
we can hum/sing/whistle along to their crystal-clear,
melancholic festive lullaby.
Fairytale starBJÖRK revealed the song she played the most
in the past 20 years. It’s called Kijom Kijom and is performed
by Indonesian artistsHaba Haba Group.
“I’ve decided to play for you this song which is in my music library as the most played
song of the last 20 years. It’s by a band called Haba Haba Group, who are from Sumatra, Indonesia. This song is called ‘Kijom Kijom’.
“It’s almost like an Indonesian RnB tune before RnB was invented, from the 70s I think
this is. I really love this tune, everything about it: it’s sassy, sensual, picks up the energy
in the room. I just love it.”
With their 10th longplayer How Do You Burn? (voted Best Album of 2022 by Turn Up The Volume) the avid guitar-riff Greg Dulli orchestra scored a triumphant
comeback and their extensive tour, of which I saw 2 steaming concerts in Belgium,
was a towering success. Hail hail!
