Boston’s Outfit GIRL WITH A HAWK Share Video Clip For Their New Emotive Single ‘SAME STARS’

Songstress Linda Viens and some of Boston‘s rock legends operating together under
the moniker GIRL WITH A HAWK released their new piece SAME STARS a couple of weeks ago. An emotive story about Viens brother’s incarceration and the toll the situation took
on the family.

Viens:There are times, lucky times, when songs come through the ether to the writer fully formed. ‘Same Stars’ is one of those songs. In the middle of the night as I tossed and turned, feeling my brother’s body and mind and spirit simultaneously tossing and turning and trying to get comfortable in a jail cot, in a metal cell, where the lights never went dark, and the cries and complaints of men could be heard all night long, I got up and picked up the guitar and the song emerged. Songs that come like this are not difficult, they are a gift, a release, and a relief.”

Turn Up The Volume wrote: “‘Same Stars’ is a heart-and-soul touching story, a longing ballad, bittersweet siblings love-inspired reverie with Linda Viens‘s moving voice sending
shivers down your spine. Stirring.”

The band have a brand new video out now for the sensitive song with alternating shots
of the band performing the tune and Viens wandering around in slo-mo, like in a feverish dream, reflecting on her family, especially her troubled brother and his two children.

The Original FLEETWOOD MAC Released Their Sultry Blues Rock Debut Album 55 Years Ago Today

Back in time

24 February 2023

The original FLEETWOOD MAC, formed in 1967, was a whole different affair than
the second line-up (from 1975 on) with Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham added to original members Mick Fleetwood, John McVie and the late Christine McVie who joined FM in 1970.

From left to right: John McVie, Peter Green, Mick Fleetwood, Jeremy Spencer and Danny Kirwan

The band was then also popularly known as Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac because
singer-songwriter-guitarist Peter Green (1946-2020) was the voice/face of the band.

Back sleeve

Their eponymous debut LP was released 55 years ago today, on 24 February 1968.
A sultry blues rock record featuring, besides original compositions, also covers of
classics by black blues pioneers such as Howlin’ Wolf, Robert Johnson, and Elmore James. Despite the fact that there wasn’t a hit single on, the LP peaked at #4 in the UK.

Waking Up… BEYOND THE LAMPLIGHT

Daily noise that works faster than a gallon of caffeine

24 February 2023

Band: BEYOND THE LAMPLIGHT
Who: A new swirling project born out of former
Americana/Punk band Larry and his Flask.

New single: HIDING IN PLAIN SIGHT

Ian Cook (singer): “Hiding in Plain Sight was inspired by the time spent during the Covid pandemic. Kind of an ode to a time of uncertainty and confusion. All of us feeling cooped
up and hemmed in, not knowing what the next day might bring. As well as the mental toll something like that takes on a person and trying to navigate the thoughts and emotions of
the quarantine lifestyle. Ultimately it’s a song about mental health and dealing with issues within the confines of a restrictive environment.”

Artwork upcoming Album

TUTV: These seasoned musicians know all the tricks in the book to get your
aural attention. This pithy pandemic-inspired piece from the upcoming album
‘Don’t Forget To Leave It All Behind’ moves and grooves forth and back, with sudden
twists and turns, but always whirling with avid Americana-infused guitar voltage,
high-energetic brio, tense vocals, and an inflamed chorus to turn up the heat.
Middle finger to Covid-19.

Don’t hide.
Tune in.

The Good Old Glam Rock Days – SUZI QUATRO On Top Of The UK Singles Charts This Day In 1974

Great 7″ singles from the past

Black leather Amazon SUZI QUATRO, born Susan Kay Quatro 72 years ago

still going).

She scored her second No.1 on the UK Singles Chart with glam rock burner
DEVIL GATE DRIVE. It was written (all of her songs were, back then) by big hit
machine duo Chinn & Chapman (The Sweet, Mud, Alvin Stardust, and others).

Here’s the devil.

Fiery Californian Rockers FELLOW ROBOT Steamroll On New Blast ‘TALK TO ME’

Daily electricity to load your batteries

23 February 2023

Band: FELLOW ROBOT (Long Beach, California)

Who: Originally started out as a concept piece in 2016, pulling lyrics from the sci-fi novel The Robot’s Guide To Music written by frontman Anthony Pedroza. They released so far
2 albums – #3 coming up – The Robot’s Guide To Music Vol. 1 (2018) and Vol. 2 (2019).

New album: MISANISANTHROPIOID, out on 19th May

Pedroza (frontman/lyricist): “It’s our soundtrack to the last few years. It’s a diverse take
on the perception of emotion, especially regarding how we feel about our fellow humans.”

The album’s artwork with Joy Division waves

First single: TALK TO ME

“It’s a post punk demonstration and the hardest hitting track on the album.
The song does well in contrasting the serene orchestrations within “Misanthropioid”
and “it’s purposefully messy, simple and loud, ”
says the band.

TUTV: This red-hot drum/bass-propelled steamroller shows that robots
can rock their mechanical ass off too. Talk to me races with fervent flamboyance
and never takes gas back. Pedroza‘s intense vocals and blazing guitar furor fire
up the fiery chorus and complete this helter-skelter outburst.

Touchdown rocker!

Press play.

EVERYTHING BUT THE GIRL Share Electronic Dream Bubble Tune ‘CAUTION TO THE WIND’

New striking strokes

23 February 2023

Press photo by Edward Bishop

British indie synth-pop duo EVERYTHING BUT THE GIRL – singer Tracey Thorn
and multi-instrumentalist Ben Watt – are back after 24 years and 10 albums.

They deliver # 11, titled FUSE on 21 April 2023. Pre-order info here.

The duo shares another track, following the first single
Nothing Left To Lose
, named CAUTION TO THE WIND

Tracey Horn: “It’s about arrival and seizing the moment, so
with the music we tried to capture the feeling of a perpetual
point in time.’

Ben Watt: “I let the words quickly collapse and loop inside the production.
The drums emerge and repeat, and everything then starts to unfold in cycles
of anticipation and release. I guess it’s just classic nightclub tension and euphoria.”

This new cut is pure EBTG. A trippy electro-pop tune from their dream bubble.
