Brooklyn Indie Rock Engine GEESE Wit Lots Of Swagger On Highlight ‘CRUSADES’ From Their Brand New LP

Daily electricity to load your batteries

23 June 2023

Brooklyn’s indie rock engine GEESE have their 2nd longplayer, the critically acclaimed
3D-COUNTRY LP out today. A record that follows the hallucinatory trip of a cowboy on drugs wandering through the desert. Hallelujah.

They mix psych-garage-desert-stoner-blues and post-punk rock into a sizzling stream
of Geese turbulence that triggers all your nerves and lots of other body parts. One of
the many highlights is CRUSADES. An old post-punk skool groove fed by jangly guitars
à la The Strokes, and delivered with tons of stoned swagger.

Bang on!

When Anger Leads To A Vibey Synth-Pop Tune – Toronto Duo TANDM With New Single ‘2QUICK2TRUST’

New striking strokes

23 June 223

Artists: TANDM
Who: Synth-pop duo from Toronto, CA
featuring Maxine Beck-Sinderby and Thomas.

New single: 2QUICK2TRUST

Beck-Sinderby: “This is our first diss track. This song was inspired from negative
experiences in our music and personal lives, where many have tried to take advantage
of us. From having people try to steal our music, take advantage of our band, take advantage of us as humans – this is our response. When starting TANDM, both Thomas and I were very young and naive to the music scene, and some of the bad people in it. Our kindness, generosity and innocence were taken advantage of, and that put us in a really bad place for confidence and trust in the music industry. “2quick2trust” is a confident clap back at those who have wronged us in the past, proving that all they were to us was nameless and song material.”

TUTV: Despite the track’s angry content, the vibe of this synth-pop jingle is
frolicsome and seducing. I think you don’t need to be a bully or a loudmouth
to ventilate your angry feelings towards all sorts of abusers. Barking dogs do
not bite.

Maxine Beck-Sinderby‘s featherlight voice is sensuous and smooth, but the lyrics are crystal
clear. The main thing is, you can choose your own way to get rid of your demons, and why not with a sparkling and starry-eyed tune like this one. A middle-finger for the idiots, done with style and grace.

10CC Scored No 1 Hit In The UK With ‘RUBBER BULLETS’ 50 Years Ago Today

Top singles from the past

Guitar pop legends 10CC started their journey back in 1972 in Stockport, UK.
The group featured Graham Gouldman, Eric Stewart, Kevin Godley and Lol Creme.

The special thing about the band was, when it came to songwriting they had two
teams, Gouldman/Stewart for the catchy pop tunes (most of their hits) and Godley/Creme for experimenting with art and cinematically inspired writing. The four of them stayed together until 1976, Godley/Creme left during the recording process of the band’s 5th LP.

The tandem was replaced with other musicians, but from there on it was only 5CC.

Anyway, with the rad rocker RUBBER BULLETS they scored
one of their 3 number-one triumphs in the UK 50 years ago
today, on 22 June 1973.

Turn all cylinders on.

SWANS – Maestro MICHAEL GIRA’s Collective Chill Out With Psychedelic Trance Symphonies On New Album ‘THE BEGGAR’

Standout longplayers

23 June 2023

Album artwork

Wayward NYC collective SWANS led by mastermind/multi-instrumentalist
Michael Gira are around for a long time now, actually since 1982.

Today they share their 16th LP, baptized THE BEGGAR
with the world. Order info via Young God Records.

(Photo by Turn Up The Volume)

MOJO: “44 minutes of scourging song broken up by ambient drone, terrifying
din and choral interludes – is both uncompromising and brilliant.”
Score: 8/10.

TUTV: Michael Gira is one of those veteran music addicts who will never quit
and when he must go, it will be in a recording studio or on stage. But first this
16th longplayer. Welcome to Gira‘s labyrinth-mind where the sun doesn’t shine.

The Beggar is a 44-minute-long nightdream. Chilling, far-out and ghostly. An enigmatic
record where only Gira finds his way through 11 psychedelic jams in slo-mo. Swans do
not rock out here, they create a trance-like atmosphere for daredevils. Fascinating
and highly intriguing. Goosebumps accomplishment.

Singles: Paradise Is Mine / Los Angeles: City Of Death

– PARADISE IS MINE –
A 10-minute hypnotic slo-mo jam.

– LOS ANGELES/ CITY OF DEATH –
Wouldn’t have been out of place on.

Waking Up With… Guitar Hero NILS LOFGREN Who Will Not Cry Anymore For CHARLIE WATTS

Daily noise that works faster than any stimulant

23 June 2023

Guitar hero NILS LOFGREN (born in Chicago 71 years ago) made a big name
for himself by playing/recording/performing with giants Neil Young and Bruce
Springsteen
but also with his solo work.

He’ll have a new one out, named Mountains, on 21 July. Pre-order info here.

He already shared 2 pieces of it. Two mellow ones. Nothin’ Easy (For Amy)
written for his wife Amy and Ain’t The Truth Enough and here’s number three.
A bluesy 60s vintage rocker called WON’T CRY NO MORE (FOR CHARLIE WATTS)

Lofgren: “Without the Beatles, Stones, (Jimi) Hendrix, this music of mine wouldn’t exist.
I was so furious and hurt when Charlie Watts died, I turned to his music for solace, desperate for connection and inspiration through the grief. Needed his musical spirit to cope and found
it. One raw riff to sing for him. Miss you, Charlie.”

R.I.P. Charlie.
Tune in.

Emotive Singer-Songwriter WOLF VANWYMEERSCH Touches Heart And Soul With New Musing ‘EAZY LIKE ME’

New striking strokes

22 June 2023

Artist: WOLF VANWYMEERSCH
Who: Emotive singer-songwriter
from Belgium.

New single: EAZY LIKE ME

TUTV: Eazy Like Me has an instantly sticking groove that keeps your ears company
all the way. The mood is melancholic and heavy-hearted, caused by the loss of a
beloved one that ignites more questions than answers in one’s mourning mind
when a tragedy like that happens.

This bittersweet pop gem is grippingly orchestrated, both subtle and heart-and-soul touching. And once again Vanwymeersch‘s crooning voice generates comforting and easygoing feelings. Beautiful, just beautiful. I’ll always relate this affecting song with
my fantastic mother who passed away six weeks ago

whenever I wake my mind goes to you
they say the first cut’s the deepest
so why waste all those cuts away
I’m not really here and I don’t feel a thing
I’m not drowning i’m swimming
easy like me
do you feel it?
what’s in my dreams is in my head
easy like me
compared to who?

I don’t need a coat when it’s warm outside
the slippers you loathed I’m wearing them out
I’m not totally sane but I’m not cuckoo
I don’t see dead faces by the light of the moon
easy like me
do you feel it?
what’s in my dreams is in my head
easy like me
easy
whenever ever in doubt:
ever in time
ever in space
there’ll be no one as
easy like me
do you feel it?
what’s in my dreams is in my head
easy like me

easy
