Nothing Compares To Her – SINEAD O’CONNOR With Goosebumps Performance In 2007 Of Her Greatest Hit

Top tunes from the past

30 July 2023

It’s hard to say goodbye to such an unqiue artist, such an inspiring personality,
such an attractive human being, such a bedazzling voice. And if you go surfin’ on
the internet you’ll see a tsunami of love for her, even from some people who hated
her because of her controversial point of views, well, controversial in the opinion
of those critics.

Anyway, I’ll just focus on O’Connor‘s vocal
brilliance again (and again and again).

This 2007 live performance of her greatest – Prince written – hit
NOTHING COMPARES 2 U (almost 295 million streams on Spotify)
sends shivers down your spine.

Goosebumps.

iskwē – Canadian Songstress Entices Again With Here New Vocal Score ‘SURE TO COME’

Daily electricity to load your batteries

30 July 2023

Artist: iskwē (pronounced iss-kway)

Who: Experimental, adventurous and much lauded Canadian singer/songwriter
who’s always exploring her own way of writing stout-hearted and unconventional,
yet captivating pop songs fitting her arresting vox. She’s as inventive, inspired and
imaginative as the great, surreal fairytale influenced sonic elf Björk

New single: SURE TO COME

iskwē: “I wrote this song as a conversation with myself, recognizing the anxiety I had been feeling about how it seemed as though regardless of how one might try, there will always be those who would prefer to see you fail rather than succeed.

But I didn’t want to sit in that state of worry, that constant fear of not being good enough.
I wanted to remind myself of the real reason I walk my walk: Do your best, hold your intentions in your heart, and trust that that’s what matters most, especially to the ones you love. The rest is sure to come.”

TUTV: Sure To Come emphasizes in the first place (again), the grandeur of iskwē‘s sublime voice, bringing the grand vocality of Florence Welch to mind. It lifts this new exquisite piece to a most enticing level. The song has an eastern vibe here and there, circling around sparkling percussion, and comes to a high every time the chorus comes on.

A crystal clear score.

And the accompanying video is a visual, animated spectacle.

R.I.P. – Eagle RANDY MEISNER Passed Away At 77

RANDY MEISNER (born Randall Herman Meisner on 8 March 1946), the co-founder, bassist/vocalist/co-songwriter of country rock icons the EAGLES passed away 3 days
ago, on 26 July following complications with a lung disease. He was 77.

Meisner co-formed the band in 1971, but already left in September 1977 citing
exhaustion. The toll for becoming one of the greatest rock acts in the world, meaning almost 24/7 touring, in a short time was to heavy. He started his solo career a year
later.

He had a magnific voice, but rarely sang on Eagles songs.

Here’s an exception. He did the lead-vocals on one of the group’s
biggest hits Take It To The Limit which he co-wrote (from their 1975
million-seller LP One Of These Nights).

This live version is masterly.

IT IT ANITA – Belgian Noise Turbocharger With 24-Karat Motherrocker ‘DON’T BEND (MY FRIEND)’

Daily electricity to load your batteries

29 July 2023

Single artwork

Band: IT IT ANITA
Who: Insane noiseniks out of Liege, Belgium.

Works: So far they fabricated 3 bonkers LPs Agaaiin (2016),
Laurent (TUTV’s best album of 2018) and last year’s Sauvé.

(FB IIA)

And number 4 is waiting in the pipeline for a Fall release.
Ahead of it IIA shared new ace single DON’T BEND (MY FRIEND)

It’s a 24-Karat motherrocker that moves and grooves with panache and force climaxing every time the scream-along chorus attacks your speakers. IIA is cut down to a 3-piece for some time now, but their barbed wire and punked-up vitality is still intact on record and on stage (I lost track of how many times I saw this turbocharger playing live, then and now). Bring on the album.

LYRICS

Since day 1 you make no money
You belong to this “spare-wheel” kinda band
Last minute spot at 3A.M.
Don’t bend! my friend
Sitting in your red van, you back hurts
Do you really think it’s worth it boy ?
Get some sleep, sunglasses on
Don’t bend! my friend
Easier to get beer than food
What you want is a fucking piece of bread
You’re so wasted sleeping on mold
Don’t bend! my friend
Same shitty chorus again and again
“Don’t ask for more ! You’re kidding me boy ?”
“Keep in mind you’re no ticket sellers !”
“You got it now ? You’re no ticket sellers !”

The only thing that matters is pre-sales
It’s not about music, it’s about pre-sales
Tutorials to increase your pre-sales
Don’t bend! my friend

Burn your savings in stupid PR shit
Hug buddies you’ve never really met
Prove on socials you’re the raddest band in town
Don’t bend! my friend

Same dirty scroungers at backstage parties
“Don’t ask for more ! You know I did my best”
“Keep in mind, you’re no ticket sellers”
“Like I said : You’re no ticket sellers”

Waking Up With Chicago Indies SLOW PULP And Their Lazy Summer Dream Tune ‘DOUBT’

Daily noise that works faster than any stimulant

29 July 2023

Photo: Alexa Viscius

Chicago-via-Madison 4-piece band SLOW PULP are gearing up
for their new album, named Yard, out on 29 September via Anti-.

Following lead-single Slugs we can go into lazy
weekend-mode now with new slo-mo groover DOUBT.

Emily Massey: “In my process to fight against self-deprecation, I found this
strange new pattern popping up where I fished for critiques from others. I wanted
people close to me to validate the things I hated about myself. Self-doubt had found
a home in me, it felt safer to stay in this familiar negative space than to like myself.
I thought if others shared that with me I wouldn’t have to do the work to change.”

Doubt gets slowly but surely in your ears, under
your skin and on repeat on your headphones.

Take me out
Put me down
I just wanted your do do do do do do do do do do doubt
I just wanted your do do do do do do do do do do doubt
