Scottish pyschocandy brothers Jim and William Reid aka THE JESUS AND MARY CHAIN have been around for ages, although they only made/recorded 7 studio LPs in their 40 year career (with an 8-year hiatus between 1999-2007).
The last, but one, named MUNKI came out 25 years ago, on 2 June 1998. The LP was,
until the Mary Chain’s reformation in 2007 – an experimental rock’n’roll masterclass turned swan song for the bros, whose fractious in-fighting culminated in the band’s break-up less than a year after its release. It was perhaps fitting, then, that Munki is argued by some as the definitive Mary Chain record in the way it seemed to chart the full array of musical directions the band had ploughed over the five records that came before.

To celebrate the album’s 25-year anniversary, a reissue – CD and gatefold
double vinyl – is released today via Fuzz Club. Order info here.
