ONE SQUARE MILE – Metal Punk Motherrockers Race And Rush On New 5-Track EP ‘SOURCE OF SUFFERING’
22 January 2024
Band: ONE SQUARE MILE
Who: Noiseniks from Hermosa Beach, California who got together in 2017. The band’s name originates from the city of Hermosa Beach, which covers about…one square mile of land. While 1SM is influenced by the many iconic punk and hardcore bands who came out of Hermosa Beach and the South Bay, their approach has been to not place any limits on their sound or style and simply write music that speaks to their lives and experiences.
New EP: SOURCE OF SUFFERING
A captivating successor to their 2018 debut LP The System. The EP marks a bold sonic departure, while simultaneously remaining true to the region’s rich punk rock heritage.
TUTV: Metal Punk mania at work! Expect five fast-forward speedballs. No breakes,
no brakes, no mistakes. Imagine The Stooges fronted by Plasmatics‘s she-devil Wendy O. Williams or Motörhead fronted by Riot grrrl Kathleen Hanna.
1SQM’s vivacious Vanessa Kaylor screams her lungs out with self-assured brio and
enough decibels to make alarm systems in your neighborhood go bonkers. She’s
backed by a metallic turbo turning up the heat even more with all their burners on.
You really need to be in great physical condition if you want to start a maddening
moshpit. These motherrockers produce blazing fireworks for about 14 minutes. Enough
time to get you out of breath for the rest of the day. Punk rules, metal rules, OSM rule.
Press play.
Go nuts.

Trailer For Upcoming AMY WINEHOUSE Biopic
22 January 2024
BACK TO BLACK (named after her 2nd and final album, released in 2006)

voice AMY WINEHOUSE, through the journey of adolescence to adulthood

Winehouse, who struggled with drugs and alcohol, died in 2011, only 27.
A coroner’s inquest reached a verdict of misadventure. The report explained that Winehouse‘s blood alcohol content was 416 mg per 100 ml (0.416%) at the time of her death, more than five times the legal drink-drive limit. The “unintended consequence”
of so much drink was her “sudden and unexpected death”.

A CERTAIN RATIO, the post-punk legends from Manchester
have a new single, named ALL COMES TO THIS of their same-titled
album that will land on April 19.
Sonically, a pretty cool surprise. It’s an unusual
psych-poppy ACR earworm, but it works perfectly.

London‘s folk-rock stars MUMFORD & SONS have their first new music out since 2018
with new single GOOD PEOPLE. A collaboration with rapper/producer Pharrell Williams.
Good People is a stupendous thrill of a track sounding like a soldier’s
march chant in overdrive, with soulful backing vocals. Big return. Big kick.
Enjoy.

Artist: METRO VERLAINE
Who: Axel on guitar and Raphaëlle on vocals lock themselves in a small Ebroïcian
apartment to work there day and night. The compositions are refined and the minimalist drum machine becomes an asset for the duo. Post-punk lover first wave and the wild scene of CBGB’s, Metro Verlaine gradually refines its identity musical.
New single: POP SAUVAGE
The title track from their upcoming
3rd album, out on 9 February.
Pop Sauvage is an orchestral rock juggernaut with a riveting drive.
Galvanising and energising. Add Raphaëlle arousing vocals and

Artist: MATT-FELIX
Who: An Anglo-French musician who spent his early youth on the island of Bali
that helped to inspire his eclectic and left field songwriting style which draws on
a wide range of influences and moods.
Debut single: MATT-FELIX
A song about how sometimes we find ourselves split in two. One half wanting
to be brave and make that change, while the other half trembles with fear of
the unknown.
Splendid pop debut. Richly constructed, evoking impassioned emotions. Matt-Felix‘s poignant vocals infuse the song with a sensitive urgency and when the chorus pops
up it’s as if Matt-Felix is backed by an electrifying orchestra. Notable score.

Artists: TV PEOPLE
Who: Dublin indie duo
New single: RAIN
A poignant song exploring the overwhelming feelings of isolation
and loneliness that accompany emigration. Rain embodies TV People‘s
introspective style, echoing the band’s defiant struggle against
disconnection.
It’s a distressed reverie that stirs and moves from start to
finish with electrical panache. Sonic and vocal catharsis. Gripping.

Artist: KABIR GREEN
Who: Singer-songwriter raised on an organic farm without gas or TV, who fell in love
with music through an eclectic stack of his parents’ records. Inspired by The Beatles, Jackson Browne, Ali Farka Toure, John Cage and Bill Evans, he taught himself to play guitar at 13 and began to write and record his own songs on an ancient 4-track reel to reel.
New single: I SEE GOLD
Green: “It’s about struggling with one’s doubts and demons, and discovering hope and light by seeing the world through the eyes of a loved one – even if they feel lost themselves. It’s about how we find ourselves through connection. ”
I See Gold is a soothing musing that causes a dreamy, yearning experience.
The smooth vocals and tinkling guitar sparks accentuate the wondering
sentiments at play.
Enjoy.

“11 tracks that embody the band’s evolution over the last 10 years and showcases

the golden age of rock-n-roll circa ’68 to ’72, as well as also pushing the boundaries

THE GLASS HOURS – Americana Duo Entice With Melancholic Country Pearl ‘SAME OLD YOU’
Daily electricity to load your batteries
21 January 2024
Artists: THE GLASS HOURS
Who: American songwriters Brad Armstrong and Megan Barbera.
Their music blurs between Sunday afternoon country-folk and
the golden age of the 1970s.
New single: SAME OLD YOU
Track from their self-titled nine-song debut album,
out on March 1st via Cornelius Chapel Records.
Barbera: “‘Same Old You’ started out as a straightforward observation of how hard it can be to change, even when we keep hitting the same proverbial wall. It then evolved into a diary of sorts about life on the road as a musician. As is often the case, the monetary yield of creativity turns out to be much slimmer than the soul yield. But in the end, we make art because we’re called to the process, and that’s really the spirit of the album.”
Amstrong: “Touring has always been pretty rough. Surprise. We used to stay at campgrounds to keep the money in the gas tank. There was always something so beautiful and romantic about that and about the lies we tell ourselves to justify keeping on with it. Reminds me of
a line by Oberst about some sad singers playing tragic. But that doesn’t make it any less true.”
TUTV: Goosebumps all the way. Same Old You is a crystalline lullaby with a melancholic country aroma. Tender, moony, and enticing. The endearing duet vocals and melancholic guitar sparks augment the soul-stirring effect of this bittersweet humdinger.
It’s a candlelight pearl, a heart-warming companion on these freezing winter nights. Romanticism in motion. Think of the quietest moments of Angel Olsen, Sharon Van Etten and Willie Nelson. Beautiful. Just beautiful.
