KOJAK – Canadian Rockers Make The Sun Shine In Winter With Boosting Pop Thrill ‘MIDNIGHT’

Daily electricity to load your batteries

24 January 2024

Band: KOJAK
Who: 4 Canadian rockers who produce a blend of hard rock riffs, trading guitars
and tight rhythm section which leads to a unique rock sound reminiscent of classic
and contemporary rock, roots and blues artists alike. They released their debut
album Sure in 2022

New single: MIDNIGHT

“Midnight” is a song about hanging on to a moment, or night in this case, as long as you can,
as futile as that can be. One of those nights where you don’t want it to end, whether it be that you’re having a good time, or you don’t want to see what the morning brings. It’s just as much about enjoying the current time/moment, as it is about avoiding what is about to come the next day. The song also ties in with a yet-to-be-released song, “Wake Up When The Morning Comes.”

Artwork by Maggie Keogh

TUTV: This kind of zippy tunes just put a big smile on your face and make your
day. Midnight is a sunlit pop thrill turning up the temperature in these winter days.
Its seductive happy-go lucky vibe and its funky titillation are what need in these grim
times. Now move your furniture, watch the clip and check how to dance to this
boosting pick-me-up.

Get up and boogie.

Along with the news comes the first single, called BLISS.

Aidan Moffat (vocalist): “It’s about women being terrorized online;
it’s about cowardice and bigotry. It’s about how we expose ourselves
on social platforms while hiding alone at home. But you can dance to
it too!”

Moffat sings/tells his story over a trippy dance beat.

JOHNNY MARR Responds To DONALD TRUMP Playing THE SMITHS Song At Rally

Former POTUS Trump included The Smiths’ 1984 classic (more than
223 million streams on Spotify) Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want
on his playlist at his rally in New Hampshire last Monday.

.
Although sources say that he played the song before at rallies, only now former
Smiths‘ guitar hero Johnny Marr got notified for the first time of what happened.

This is his response.

“Ahh …right …OK. I never in a million years would’ve thought this
could come to pass. Consider this shit shut right down, right now.”

Donald Duck Trump should play the old Pointer Sisters hit instead.

New Albums 2024 – ED HARCOURT Launches ‘EL MAGNIFICO’ In March And Shared So Far 2 Splendid Singles

24 January 2024

Artist: ED HARCOURT
Who: Renowned singer-songwriter born
46 years ago in Wimbledon, London.

New album: EL MAGNIFICO
His 10th LP. Out on March 29.

Pre-order info here.

Harcourt: “I think as a songwriter you do get to a point where you’re aware of your past and what you’ve done. It’s knowing what your strengths are, what your weaknesses are, but also knowing how to better yourself by doing things you haven’t done before.”

“I find that I’m always learning. When I’m writing with someone else it’s always a total blank canvas so you have to be open to trying new things. It means with every record I do myself it’s got to have something different in it. Every album is always a reaction to the last thing I did. After the Furnaces, which was quite heavy and experimental, I felt it was time I went back to
the source a bit. So maybe there is a sense here of drawing on what people perhaps know
me for, but there is also a big step forward.”

So far, Harcourt shared two superb singles.

FOO FIGHTERS Playing With THE B-52’s Frontman FRED SCHNEIDER For Cover Of Their Classic PLANET CLAIRE Back In 2002

Daily noise that works faster than any stimulant

24 January 2024

Dave Grohl and his FOO FIGHTERS are notorious for bringing guests on at their concerts. They did it in the past, they do it now and will, I’m sure, to keep doing it in the future.

Back in 2002, at a show in NYC, they invited THE B-52’s frontman Fred Schneider for
the New Jersey legends’ super-duper track PLANET CLAIRE from their super-duper 1979 debut LP.

That live version appeared much later, in 2019, later on a Foos live EP,
weirdly titled 00020225 along with 7 other live performances.

THE SWEET KILL – Los Angeles’ Post-Punk Act Shares Orchestral Anthem ‘FORBIDDEN’ From His Upcoming New Album

Daily electricity to load your batteries

23 January 2024

Artist: THE SWEET KILL
Who: Los Angeles-based post-punk act
of Vancouver native artist Pete Mills.

FFO: The Cure, Joy Division, Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy,
Killers, Franz Ferdinand, Editors and Fontaines D.C.

New album: NOWHERE
Out in Spring. It follows his
2022 debut Darkness.

Pre-order info here.

Mills: “NOWHERE is about embracing the fear of the unknown with the magic
fantastical faith, when these elements collide, portals to fourth dimensions appear.”

First single: FORBIDDEN

Mills: “Beneath the chilly glow of the moon, one might ponder, with a wry smile, the delicious conundrum of the forbidden. Ah, the thrill of diving into the depths of desire, to satiate an unnamable yearning! In the grand opera of life, some find their hearts drawn to the most enigmatic of duets, a dance shrouded in secrecy, away from the prying eyes of the world’s chorus”.

The eerie video, directed by Ellen Hawk, delves into this mystery realm
with gusto, taking us on a strange sojourn into the moonlight.

TUTV: This is vintage orchestral post-punk grandeur. Pete Mills‘s towering
voice takes this astonishing aria-like anthem to an overwhelming level.

The symphonious and highly infectious melodiousness is mind-boggling.
Darkwave melodrama at its glorious best. Opera writers should consider
creating a Gothic spectacle with Forbidden as the main song.

It featured on his triple debut album All Things Must Past.

Later in the 1970s, the news spread that the song was subject of copyright
infringement due to its similarity to the Ronnie Mack song He’s Fine, a 1963 hit
for the New York girl group The Chiffons. Harrison had to pay a huge amount for
the plagiarism.
