MUMFORD & SONS Return With Stupendous Single ‘GOOD PEOPLE’

Daily noise that works faster than any stimulant

18 January 2024

Press

London‘s folk-rock stars MUMFORD & SONS have their first new music out since 2018
with new single GOOD PEOPLE. A collaboration with rapper/producer Pharrell Williams.

The song premiered on Louis Vuitton Men’s FW24 Show Paris last
Tuesday and features a six-piece choir named the Native Vocalists.

Good People is a stupendous thrill of a track sounding like a soldier’s march
chant in overdrive, with soulful backing vocals. Big return. Touchdown.

Enjoy.

Happy 75 To Guitar Virtuoso And Former Rolling Stone MICK TAYLOR – Watch Him Play On DEAD FLOWERS In 1971

17 January 2024

MICK TAYLOR was born on 17 January 1949
in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, England.

Happy 75 to a genuine guitar virtuoso.

He started his career with John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers replacing the late
legend Peter Green who started another iconic blues band Fleetwood Mac.

In 1966 he left the Bluesbreakers and joined The Rolling Stones 3 years later,
aged only 20, replacing the deceased Brian Jones. He played on 3 classic LPs,
Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers and Exile on Main St.

He also worked with other big artists such as Bob Dylan, Mike Oldfield, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, Jack Bruce and Ronnie Wood who replaced Taylor in The Stones in 1974.

Here’s a stunning example of his remarkable guitar skills when playing at the
legendary Marquee Club in London performing The Stones’ Dead Flowers in 1971.

NEIL YOUNG And CRAZY HORSE – ‘DUME’ Album Gets A Vinyl Release On Feb 23

17 January 2024

In the mid-’70s, Neil Young, his band Crazy Horse and producer David Briggs
stayed at the Point Dume area of Malibu to record the album Zuma, named after
the beach they lived near and had wide-open sessions.

Eight songs didn’t end up on the Zuma LP.

As part of Young’s Archives Vol II box set in 2020, a CD was included, titled
DUME featuring 7 Zuma tracks and 9 from those recording sessions and
previously unreleased.

Dume will now be released on vinyl (2 LPs) on February 23.

Portland’s Rockmakers THE DANDY WARHOLS Announce New LP – Here’s First Single ‘DANZING WITH MYSELF’

New striking strokes

Great news for fans (including TUTV) of Portland‘s heroes THE DANDY WARHOLS
who will be around for 30 years in 2024. On March 15 they launch their 12th album,
named ROCKMAKER. Pre-order info here.

Artwork & Setlist

Last summer, they dropped stand-alone single
The Summer Of Hate. A crazily catchy riff-roller
that will be on the album.

But the first official single is DANZING WITH MYSELF

Courtney Taylor-Taylor (frontman): “It started with a riff that either sounded like
Misfits or Danzig and then got slowed down. Overall, Rockmaker is the manifestation
of our desire to hear a record of heavy raw punk and metal guitar riffs, but it has its
own alley.”

It features Pixies‘ general Frank Black and is a rather gloomy and doomy (yes, Danzig-like) sounding stomper, but vintage Dandys. Its poignant groove creeps faster under your skin than you can say ‘fuck Trump’.

Berlin-based Songstress KAT KOAN Entrances Again – Hear Her New Moody Reverie ‘DREAM GIRL’ Here

Daily electricity to load your batteries

17 January 2024

Berlin-based artist KAT KOAN shines again. After releasing her magnific
debut album Lustprinzip in 2022 and three ear-catching singles last year
she has a new track out, titled DREAMGIRL.

Koan shared her thoughts about the song via her socials.

I’ll add this. Kat Koan always knows how to entrance the listener with stylishly,
graciously and also sensually designed music that stirs heart and soul. The sentiments expressed here may be familiar to many of us and can be a comforting companion on your headphones with the lights dimmed, while relaxing on your couch, dreaming of
your own dream-self.

Leeds’ Famous Mavericks YARD ACT About Their Dream Job – ‘WE MAKE HITS’

New striking strokes

17 January 2024

British indie rockers YARD ACT shot to the top faster than they could
realise, last year with their ace debut album LP The Overload.

And they have the intention to go on with their own fervent flow.

Second LP, baptized, WHERE’S MY UTOPIA will show up on 1 March.

Pre-order info here.

Album artwork

James Smith (frontman): “You can see the cynicism and the silliness on the surface
of “We Make Hits” without much effort, but at its core, for me, it’s really an ode to friendship and the unfiltered joy you feel when you’re making music with the people you hold dear in your life. Meanwhile back in the Yardiverse, we’re getting the origin story of the hitmen Dynamite Dave and Dudley Sunglasses. A valid parable about the trappings of late capitalism, and the compromises we have to make to survive sometimes.”

With WE MAKE HITS they share new track #3.

Can’t argue with that. They produce (from their debut LP on) tune after tune after
tune. It’s what they do, it’s their dream job and their reward is, deservedly, gigantic.

KIM GORDON Returns With New Dazzling Slo-Mo Jam ‘BYE BYE BYE’

New striking strokes

16 January 2024

Following her superb debut LP NO HOME RECORD the former Sonic Youth heroine
had to wait a couple of years – like every artist – to take it on the road due to that nasty Covid-19 virus. But it was worth the wait. Her concert in Brussels in 2022 was truly special.

Last year she released another unbridled noise EP Come On
with Bill Nace under their moniker BODY/HEAD.

Today, Gordon announced the upcoming birth of her
2nd solo LP. It’s titled The Collective and it’ll land on
March 8.

Pre-order info here.

Album artwork

Ahead of it we get a first taster with BYE BYE.

It’s a dazzling piece of music. Its hypnotic trap beat sonority and fuzzy chainsaw rotating synths are the motor of this dazzling jam. It moves and grooves like an industrial rock serpent in slow motion. All over it come Gordon‘s chilling spoken-word vocals citing
a series of consumer products. Eerie and enigmatic, fascinating and utterly cool.

The accompanying video features her daughter Coco Gordon Moore and is directed by photographer Clara Balzary, who is the daughter of Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea.
