SPRINTS – Mean Irish Punk ‘N’ Roll Machine Without A Shadow Of A Doubt One Of The Sensations Of This Young Year

Daily noise that works faster than any stimulant

15 February 2024

High-voltage punk turbo SPRINTS released their cooking debut album
LETTER TO SELF
last month and confirmed their big-talk-of-the-indie-town
status.

To promote their longplayer they are now in the middle of a European tour.
Last night they landed in Bruges, one of the most beautiful, historic cities in
Belgium.

Brugge, Belgium

I was there. And? OMG. The flabbergasting energy these ear-splitting loud Irish
beatniks developed was off the charts. Almost all the time they built up a near
unbearable tension as the haunting harbinger of a thundering explosion of insane
punk rage with frontwoman/guitarist’ Karla Chubb HUGE VOICE as the driving force,
that titanic loud that her monitors went down after only one song. Cool, right?
You betcha.

Wake-up world, Sprints is without a shadow of a
doubt one of the sensations of this young year.

Here’s an idea of their bulldozing live frenzy

(Thx to Nestor Lambrecht)

‘LOVE GOES DOWN THE DRAIN’ On Valentine’s Day With Boston’s Duo Turbo CANYONS AND LOCUSTS

New striking strokes

14 February 2024

Band: CANYONS AND LOCUSTS
Who: Two-piece act, Justin Keane (vocals, guitar) and Amy Young (drums, backing vocals), from Boston, MA. Fueled by the current chaos of the world and an urgent need to be part of the conversation, the two took the indie rock foundation they built in previous bands and upped the ante by adding new levels of noise via pervasive, edgy guitar sounds, low and thundery drumbeats, and emotional vocals.

New single: LOVE GOES DOWN THE DRAIN

TUTV: Looks like C & L do not like Valentine’s Day, maybe because of all the commercial BS hanging all over it, or maybe they do but only their way with some roasting punk ‘n’ roll draining fake love down the drain. Anyway, this duo turbo hit again like they’re used to.

Think Dinosaur Jr turning up the amps for a blistering roller coaster full steam ahead while harsh vocals crank up the whole shebang. No, don’t expect the vibe of The Beatles’
All You Need Is Love’
, rather their Helter Skelter fury.

SEAN O’HAGAN And His HIGH LLAMAS Return With New Album ‘HEY PANDA’ In March – Hear The 2 Singles Here

14 February 2024

Irish celebrated songsmith SEAN O’HAGAN returns with HIGH LLAMAS,
the band he founded back in 1992, for album #11. It’s named HEY PANDA,
the first in 8 years, following Here Come The Rattling Trees and will land
on March 29.

PRE-ORDER info here.

PRESS INFO: “Opened up by the delirious alchemy of contemporary pop music,
Sean O’Hagan leaps back into life with High Llamas, with a set of killer tunes reflecting on dimensional levels how definitions change over time. Arranged by Sean and produced with mix collaborator Fryars to engage the eardrums in non-stop new possibilities, Hey Panda radiates optimism inspired by the joys and sorrows felt in former lifetimes and the diverse conundrums of today alike.

A modern pop music / deep listening experience that could only issue forth
from their personal quadrant of the galaxy. Hey Panda projects soulfully through an enervating abstract of today’s popular music; the sound of the Llamas’ stately melodies and expressive ditties laid open – blissfully shattered – with drums and vocals hitting different, burning sounds and contemporary production twists pulling the ear at every turn.”

Singles shared so far.

SOME REMAIN – Four Hefty Irish Indies Take You On A Tempestuous Burst With Blazing Blast ‘DEAD SOUND’

Daily electricity to load your batteries

14 February 2024

Band: SOME REMAIN
Who: 4 hefty indies from Siglo, Ireland

New single: DEAD SOUND

TUTV: Just like their countrymen Gilla Band, these four young Irish dogs look like 4 regular guys from around the block. But when they open the gates for their new blazing burst they become 4 not-regular guys heading towards a rough ride. A bumpy bass riff takes Dead Sound on his back throughout the full course of its tempestuous rush.

The vocalist spits and sneers like Mark E Smith did his whole jarring career. The clamourus chorus is one that’ll start mospiths and when a psychotic guitar works its way to the front we get pandemonium. It’s also a loud and clear harbinger of an out-of-your-fucking head finale. Blazing blast. Bingo master’s breakout.

Bang your head.
