British Rock Celebs KASABIAN Make A ‘CALL’ From The Sky On Their New Single

Daily noise that works faster than any stimulant

British veteran rockers KASABIAN – one of the best bands of the past 25 years,
in my book, on record and on stage – have announced the upcoming birth of their
8th longplayer. It’s named HAPPENINGS and lands on 14 July, one day before their stadium show in their hometown Leicester.

The LP contains 10 tracks, only a total of 26 minutes. “A minute
shorter than the Ramones’ debut,”
says frontman Serge Pizzorno.

Along with the news we get the first taster, titled CALL

Pizzorno about the song in an interview with NME: “It was the first thing that went down.
I had the riff towards the end of the last record. Certain riffs talk to you, and I was like, ‘Yes, there’s something special in this’. It informed how the whole record was going to be – these super tight, big tunes. It always felt like the first thing people should hear from the album. It’s such a unique tune. At the start of an album campaign, to have something that can only be Kasabian is important. I don’t really know what is, but I do feel like it just has those drops that will just go off in a live environment. Let’s start the year with a tune that gets everyone excited for the summer.”

Call is a funky dance booster to get the crowd going at festivals.

The accompanying video is a spectacular one. A phone – with Pizzorno on the screen, singing the song – falls out of a plane and swirls through the sky, hold by a skydiver.

The clip was filmed in Albania where aerospace laws allow sky-divers
to jump out of a helicopter with the video playing in real time.

Wake-up, people.
You have a call
from Kasabian.

ATOMIC LIFE – New Metallic Indie Super Group Explode On Their Battle Axe Debut Single ‘HIT ME FIRST’

Daily electricity to load your batteries

22 February 2024

Photo: Julian Bracero

Band: ATOMIC LIFE

Who: A supergroup made up of pillars of the New York hardcore world. The Long Island based alternative rock band features the incomparable world-known drummer Billy Rymer (The Dillinger Escape Plan, Ho9909, Thoughtcrimes), Cody Hosza (Glassjaw) on guitar, and Michael Sadis (NK, The Rivalry) on bass. Joining these titans is Adea Frances; a fresh talent and multi-disciplined performance artist who compliments Atomic Life‘s high-energy songs with her powerful vocals and haunting lyrics.

Debut single: HIT ME FIRST

Frances describes the song as her “deepest wish that straddles
the thin line between forbidden desires and sinister intentions
.”

TUTV: Hit Me First is a gigantic wall-of-metallic-sound juggernaut. A sky-scraping jackhammer to break concrete walls with, propelled by diabolic guitar/bass riffage, enraged with cast-iron drumming, and inflamed with Adea Frances‘s libidinous
high-voltage vocals.

Think Deftones having a noise-wrestling fight with Mastodon with Evanescence‘s charismatic hell-cat as ref. Yes, dynamite! This is only the band’s first hit, but they sure can split atoms. That’s a very loud and very clear battle axe fact!

MONOSCOPES – Italian Psych Dream Rock Outfit Score Big Time With Their Heart-And-Soul Touching LP ‘ENCYCLOPEDIA’

22 February 2024

Band: MONOSCOPES
Who: Italian act started by Paolo Mioni, former member of Jennifer Gentle,
spearhead of the Italian psych scene. They released their debut album
Painkillers And Wine last year.

New album: ENCYCLOPEDIA

Press info: A sequence of tracks that touch on complex themes such as the unbearability of pain (Today Today), the helplessness one feels when faced with a god who sends a flood to destroy the world (The Maker), the feeling of regretting the past (The Green Bed), love as an obsession (You’re Gonna Be Mine). In between there are also glimpses of optimism, such as Hey Atlas, which invites the listener (or the singer?) not to carry all the weight of the world on our shoulders like the titular character, or the jazzy This Silly Night, in which a relationship becomes the only way to escape the ugliness of the outside world.

The album moves from the psychedelic rock with pop overtones of The Electric Muse to the noise ride of You’re Gonna Be Mine, from the nocturnal atmospheres of A Quiet Life to the Velvet Underground-influenced garage pop of It’s A Shame About You. In between there are noise, melody, harmonic and rhythmic experimentation (above all the alternating odd and even times in The Green Bed), and a resurgence of the middle eight, so dear to The Beatles, as an important element of the song form. In Endcyclopedia one hears echoes of the noisy spirituals of Spiritualized, of the more apocalyptic side of PJ Harvey, of the power pop of Big Star, but also of R.E.M. and the melodic quest of the unforgettable LA’s.”

TUTV: What can I add to this accurately detailed press release? I’ll add this. Monoscopes made an ideal record for the midnight hours, for the moments you want to escape from our daily rat race and lose yourself in your thoughts of choice.

Heavy-hearted lullaby pearls such as ‘The Electric Muse (I Wanna Know Why?)’, Hey Atlas and The Things You Want To Hide should be hits in a normal world. Imagine the moody musings of Evan Dando (The Lemonheads) interwoven with the shadowy electricity of NYC’s celebs Interpol.

And when they turn up the temperature and the amps, now and then, like on top-tier tracks ‘It’s A Shame About You’ and ‘Quite Life‘ you feel the mixed emotions coming through your speakers making their way to your heart and to your soul. In my world, this is a grand 2024 album. It should be in yours too.

4 Different BILLY JOELS In New Video For His Comeback Single ‘TURN THE LIGHTS BACK ON’

For your eyes

22 February 2024

BILLY JOEL, the world famous songsmith who recorded/released 13 albums between
1971 and 2001 and scored giant hits such as Uptown Girl, Piano Man, We Didn’t Start The
Fire
and Goodnight Saigon released a new single, titled TURN THE LIGHTS BACK ON
a couple of weeks ago. His first new music in 17 years.

The song is a beautifully orchestrated piano-driven ballad you can file between
the past with Harry Nilsson and the present with John Father Misty who is a big
Nilsson fan himself.

A new spectacular clip for the song is online now.

The video is directed by Warren Fu and Freddy Wexler. It uses groundbreaking AI technology, to go through the BJ ages. From the early seventies Piano Man Joel, to
the all bushy-haired and befogged with cigarettes, to late eighties Storm Front Joel,
to the present-day Joel. The 4 Joels all sing the song together in a montage at the end.

THE WARNING – Mexican She-Sisters-Devils Kick Ass With Their New Herculean Sledgehammer ‘S!CK’

Daily noise that works faster than any stimulant

22 February 2024

Infamous Mexican siblings THE WARNING infuse rock music with a much-needed shot of adrenaline. The Monterrey, Mexico trio of sisters. Daniela “Dany” (guitar, lead vocals, piano), Paulina “Pau” (drums, vocals, piano), and Alejandra “Ale” Villarreal (bass, piano, backing vocals) charge forward with head-spinning riffs, unpredictable rhythms, stadium-size beats, and skyscraping vocals, making millions of fans go mental in the process.

So far they released 3 triumphant albums. XXI Century Blood (2017),
Queen Of The Murder Scene
(2018) and ERROR

And now, to warm/heat up for their massive 2024 TOUR we get new single S!CK (2022).

TUTV: Wham bloody wham bam. The three she-sisters-devils continue their world conquering crusade with this sick herculean sledgehammer. Roll over L7, roll over Evanescence and roll over Beethoven, here are The Warning . They sound drop-dead gorgeous, they look drop-dead gorgeous, they were born drop-dead gorgeous.

S!CK attacks your greedy ears and your poor stereo with monstrous riffs, muscular drumming and sharp-teethed vocals. And the earth-quaking chorus aims at the moon. Think Australian bulldozers Wolfmother fronted by Miles Cyrus taking you on a crashing mission to Terrordome. Sound pretty bitchy, right? You betcha. Hail Hail!

Wake up, people.
The Warning will
kick your arse.

A PLACE TO BURY STRANGERS Turn Down The Decibels And Advise You To ‘CHANGE OF GOD’

Daily electricity to load your batteries

21 February 2024

Brooklyn‘s psych-noiseniks A PLACE TO BURY STRANGERS led by
founder/mastermind Oliver Ackermann have released 6 LPs since
2013, with the terrific See Through You one as the most recent (2022).

And they’re back in town now and announced a series of 7″ singles.

Info: ‘The Sevens’ are four 7-inch vinyl records on white vinyl being released each month from now through April. They unveil a treasure trove of previously unreleased tracks from A Place To Bury Strangers‘ critically acclaimed sixth album, ‘See Through You’. Renowned for their visceral sonic assault and immersive live performances, A Place To Bury Strangers has cemented the end-all-be-all space for over-the-top post-punk/shoegaze destruction. With this special vinyl collection, the band invites listeners to delve deeper into their sonic universe, exploring uncharted territories and hidden gems.

Ackerman: “When looking back at the recordings that were done around the time
of ‘See Through You’, there were a bunch of great tracks that just captured life back
then and really had something incredible going on. Even though they are a bit raw
and a bit personal, I thought it would be a mistake if they didn’t come out.

I thought it would be best to go back to my roots and put out a series of 7-inches the way
A Place To Bury Strangers started. That strange weird format where the tracks each speak
for themselves; no album context to muddy the water. These tracks are such a contrast to
the way I am feeling now and the current songs we’ve been working on so slip back into this moment in time.”

CHANGE OF GOD is the first single with ‘It Is Time‘ as the B-side.
I’ll be released physically this Friday, 23rd February. Order info: HERE.

TUTV: Change Of God sounds as if sonic turmoil architect Ackerman broke his
deafening-sound-wall down, decided to reduce (a bit) the amount of decibels
for once, and composed a hypnotic, magnetic, hauntingly melodic jam with his
echoing voice up front, while schizophrenic guitars and a relentless bass riff try, as usual, try to kidnap the song, but this time they weren’t allowed to do so which makes this striking stroke pretty special.
