PINK FLOYD Drummer NICK MASON And His Band SAUCERFUL SECRETS Back On Tour In The UK/Europe

21 February 2024

Devoted PINK FLOYD fans were delighted when the former, original drummer
NICK MASON, aged 80 (!) now, decided 6 years ago to come back and play again.

Mason: “Six years ago when I got behind the drums again and we started playing
the early Pink Floyd material, it was a real pleasure on so many levels. Many of the
tracks had never actually been played live, so to have performed them all over the world
has been something we’ve all enjoyed immensely. To get the opportunity to come back to
the UK for another tour is something the band and I had been hoping we would be able
to do, so to say ‘we’re back’ feels good!”

He formed a band with singer Gary Kemp (former Spandau Ballet frontman), guitarist
Lee Harris (from the late Ian Dury‘s band the Blockheads), Guy Pratt (bassist and former
Pink Floyd collaborator) and Dom Beken (keyboardist with British ambient duo The Orb)
and went on the road in Europe and America in 2018 and 2019. In September 2021, they recorded a live album at London‘s legendary venue the Roundhouse, followed by
another tour.

And Mason has no intention to go back to his lazy couch, despite his age. He’s one of
those veteran rock musicians who want to go on as long as possible, because music streams through their veins, it’s their life.

These are the new tour dates for the UK and Europe.

FIDLAR – Californian Surf Punks Cover JACKSON BROWNE

21 February 2024

Los Angeles‘ surf pop punks FIDLAR (Fuck It Dog, Life’s a Risk)

Last year, the trio had their boiling 6-track That’s Life out and also shared their
red-hot-blooded cover of Limp Bizkit‘s Nookie. Less steaming is another cover they
put online. Not an obvious choice. It’s the 1977 Jackson Browne hit Running On Empty. Sounds like Fidlar became a harmonious power pop band. Not a bad take, boys.

DOWN THE LEES – Canadian Noise Trio Back With New Scorching Shocker ‘DOUSE’

Daily electricity to load your batteries

20 February 2024

Band: DOWN THE LEES
Who: The post-rock noise project of seasoned Canadian singer-songwritter-guitarist
Laura Lee Schultz. Backed by a bassist and a drummer DTL released 3 longplayers, with Bury The Sun as the most recent one (2019) and also their most poignant one to my
ears (playing right now on my headphones while writing this stuff).

New single: DOUSE
The first taster from the upcoming EP, named Dirt, produced
by Jesse Gander (Brutus, Japandroids), out on May 3.

Artwork by Mirabelle Van De Put

TUTV: Douse is a scorching Herculean shocker going up and down, forth and back,
left and right. The heaviest parts resonate like if British blues rock turbo Royal Blood
having a sonic fight with post-industrial-punk legends Killing Joke .

Cool, right? You betcha. Notable also, is Schultz‘s vocal tone, even more haunting
than before, and as usual she’s backed by a powerhouse bass/drum tandem.

One word. Awesome.

Amazing Album Artwork – Cover Of New STEVE HACKETT Album

74-year-old STEVE HACKETT who played 7 years (1970-1977) with prog-rock legends Genesis alongside then frontman Peter Gabriel, has his 27th LP out. It’s titled The Circus And The Nightwhale. Nothing new to hear, old school prog-rock from last Century. As the saying goes only for the fans. But the cover artwork immediately impressed my eyes.
