New longplayers
18 June 2024
Late musical bloomer SEASICK STEVE (born Steven Gene Leach 73 years ago in Oakland, California) started his career only 20 years ago, but was/is quite busy in that time span, releasing records and touring frequently.
He just launched his 14th LP, titled A TRIP A STUMBLE A FALL DOWN ON YOUR KNEES .
He introduced it to the world with this very short message.
You can file most SS records between The Black Keys and ZZ Top. And this one swims
in the same old-skool blues pool. Unfortunately, the tracklist switches too much from
pace and mood, alternating sizzling stompers and slow-moving musings, on this
12-song, 53 minutes long album.
So I made my own EP, with the 6 best zippy strokes and got myself a devil-may-care, rolling, entertaining extended play, avoiding a trip, a fall and stumble. I saw the man playing live a couple of times, which inspired me to fabricate this small frisky collection. Trust me, cutting this average album in half, turns it in a bouncy, 26-minute pleasure.
