ensemble from Naarm / Melbourne, AUS

Album: STILETTO
The group’s brand-new debut LP.

Album Artwork

A sparkling cocktail of power-pop-punk tunes mixing several sonic ingredients, old and new. You’ll hear echoes of legends, such as Devo‘s staccato edginess, Bikini Kill‘s riot grrl dynamics, B-52‘s disco wackiness and the energetic electricity from newcomers such as NY’s Bodega and Gustaf, all fueled with manic bass riffs and some sassy sax. Sounds splendid right? You bloody betcha.

INTERPOL Celebrate 20th Anniversary Of Their 2nd LP ‘ANTICS’ in Europe/UK/USA

Posted on by JL

16 October 2024

New York‘s rock darlings INTERPOL released their second
album ANTICS on 27 September 2004, 20 years ago.

A deluxe anniversary is out now. Different formats of Vinyl/CD/Digital with all
sort of specials, a 30-page booklet and some other collector items. Details here.

You can stream the digitally version below.

Frontman Paul Banks spoke with English music website NME about the making of Antics: “It was a fairly organic and not-contrived evolution of where we were with our songwriting. I’d like to say that we were pushing back on these labels of being super dour in the first round, but I’m not sure how much that would have actually had an impact on the material that we then wrote for ‘Antics’. We had a lot of ‘Antics’ written by the end of the ‘Bright Lights’ tour, so it was almost like a continuation.”

Be There For Me.

More info here.

New album artwork

Quickly before Friday’s release PR offers a 3rd
taster, called GOD OF EVERYTHING ELSE.

Margolin: “After a horrible relationship I felt like a piece of shit on someone’s shoe,
like I was so unimportant and completely drained of any power I once had. Lying to
myself in order to get that power back. You did this to me, but I’m the god of everything
else. Fuck you.

It’s also a song about femininity, wondering how to be a woman, watching someone else
do it so effortlessly, wondering if I could be like her would it be easier. Of course not.”

HEARTWORMS – Fast Coming British Psych Pop Oufit Go Supersonic On New Single ‘WARPLANE’

Posted on by JL

Daily electricity to load your batteries

16 October 2024

HEARTWORMS is the psych-pop band of fast up-and-coming British songstress Jojo Orme.
They drew a lot of aural attention with last year’s 4-track EP A Comforting Notion.

The band have now announced details of their debut LP. It’s baptized
GLUTTON FOR PUNISHMENT and will land on 25th February 2025.

Along with the news our hungry ears will get high on the new single WARPLANE.

Orme: “The opening lyrics set the scene of a dogfight in the air while civilians are witnessing it take shape. My imagination is always out of my control, and my love of Spitfires even more so, so I couldn’t help but make this about a spitfire pilot. I am dedicating this to William Gibson Gordon – a Spitfire pilot who was killed in action by an Me109 at just 20 years old. The song ends how I imagine his falling Spitfire sounds to me, like an angel losing its extraordinary wings.”

Warplane is a head-over-heels missile that speeds up sky-high from the get-go, propelled by a disco-vibe infused synth/guitar/bass collaboration and Orme‘s feverish vocals rollin’ all over it. Every time the choir-like chorus comes up your adrenalin’s production doubles . Supersonic stunner.
