FAT DOG – British Disco Punks Will Win The Eurovison Song Contest Of 2035 With A ‘PEACE SONG’

Daily noise that works faster than a stream of caffeine

Five London disco-punk cowboys teamed up during the awful 2020 lockdown year
(many bored youngsters decided to do so, to kill time inside) and started FAT DOG.

Last year, they showed up for the first time with bombastic knockout King Of The Slugs and several singles later they unleashed their debut album WOOF. One of the best debuts of 2024. And if you can catch them live (like I did, a couple of months ago in Brussels) don’t hesitate to go out and have a ball with them.

Back to today.

Fat Dog have written a PEACE SONG with which they want to compete at
the Eurovision Song Contest of 2035. The big question, of course, is ‘will the
world still turn in 2035?
‘ as devastating wars destroy lives every single day
on half of our planet and the future doesn’t look bright whatsoever. One
can only hope.

Wake up people,
give peace a chance,
vote Fat Dog.
dance to Fat Dog.
Fuck war!

LAMBRINI GIRLS – True ‘LOVE’ According To Brighton’s Garage Punk Bulldozer

Daily electricity to load your batteries

19 November 2024

Album artwork

Brighton two-motor punk bulldozer LAMBRINI GIRLS have built a
notorious reputation over the past 2 years, on record and on stage.

Loudmouth/guitarist Phoebe Lunny and bassist Lilly Macieira released their incendiary
6-track debut EP You’re Welcome last year and toured non-stop. In Europe aswell as the first time in Trump‘s future fascist country where women are treated like inferior human beings, where the LGBTQ community is in real trouble when that megalomaniac felon gets back in the White House and where immigrants will be treated like the Nazi‘s treated the Jews at first, when they were deported en masse.

Early next year the razorblade gurlz will go nuclear when their debut LP,
baptized Who Let The Dogs Out will attack our ears and stereos, the way
we like it. More info here.

Ahead of it, we get preview track #3.
You can stream all three below.

TUTV: Don’t be mistaken, it’s not because the new single is titled LOVE
that LB wrote their first ever song about the birds and the bees. According
to the lambrinis tandem ‘true love is nothing more than the wrong hill to die on”.

I guess every individual has their own experience/perception of what true love
means or doesn’t mean to them. But describing it the way LG do sounds not like
a romantic story whatsoever. Anyway LOVE is another slam dunk for all headbangers among us who want to get up in the morning and smack their head to the wall to
check if they’re still alive and ready to kick some far-right-wing butts.

Hi, what does true love mean to you?

“True love is nothing more
Than the wrong hill to die on
Trauma bonding over exes,
µwith the best of intentions
Put me on a pedestal
So you can rip me off
”

THE MURDER CAPITAL – British Misfits Announce 3rd LP And Drop New Piece ‘WORDS LOST MEANING’

New striking strokes

20 November 2024

Last year Irish misfits THE MURDER CAPITAL released their
top-notch 2nd LP Gigi’s Recovery. A remarkable record.

Nick Cave is a fan, obviously, as the Irishmen were the support act on
several European concerts by the crooner legend and his Bad Seeds.

Ahead of that tour, they shared an intense
new song named Can’t Pretend To Know.

And they just dropped another one, titled WORDS LOST MEANING.
Both tracks will be on their 3rd longplayer, named Blindness. It’ll be
out next year, on February 21. More info here.

James McGovern (frontman/songwriter) about the new track : “I’ve had experiences
in my own relationship, being on tour a lot, where the words ‘I love you’ would be used
over text, or as a way to close a conversation.

“They were dismantling and losing their essence… if the words ‘I love you’ are losing meaning in a romantic context or a partnership, it’s a worrying sign. Those words mean so much, and they should be respected as such. I’d rather say goodbye and say nothing if it’s not going to be said with meaning.”

Soul Giant AL GREEN Covers R.E.M. – Here’s His Version Of ‘EVERYBODY HURTS’

20 November 2024

78-year-old soul star AL GREEN is one of those artists who
are known/loved by several generations, by old and young.

Let’s Stay Together from his same-titled 1972 LP was his greatest hit (almost
580 million streams on Spotify). It topped the US Charts and peaked at #7 in the UK.
He recorded/released 29 albums, with Lay It Down as his most recent one. It came
out in 2008. He still performs now and then.

Last year, he shared his cover of Lou Reed’s ‘Perfect Day.‘
Now, he has another cover to offer with his take on R.E.M.‘s
1992 tearjerker EVERYBODY HURTS.

Green: “Recording ‘Everybody Hurts,’ I could really feel the heaviness of the song, and I wanted to inject a little touch of hope and light into it. There’s always a presence of light that can break through those times of darkness.”

Robert Pollard (frontman/songwriter) told Rolling Stone about the new longplayer:

“I wanted to create, hopefully, an experience, kind of a wild ride, where the listener would
want to hear it multiple times in order to grasp all the sections and fields of sound to discover something new with each listen. I trimmed down the songs so that there wasn’t a lot of repetition, so you get a lot of sections that happen only once or twice.”

Here’s the lead single, a firm rocker named FLY RELIGION.

CMON CMON – From London To Brussels With ‘ALL THE OTHER KIDS’

Daily electricity to load your batteries

19 November 2024

Single artwork

Band: CMON CMON
Who: Brussels/London based indie rock trio from Belgium,
who started to realize their childhood dream 5 years ago,
in their 40s.
.

New track: ALL THE OTHER KIDS

It’s the first piece from their upcoming, new EP, titled Headwind that’ll land
next year. It’ll follow CC’s 2023 debut album The Crack And The Light.

The EP was recorded in The Netherlands, produced by James Brown, mixed in a studio situated in the legendary Portobello Road, London, and mastered by in Chicago, USA.

The origins of the new EP go back to a message from out of the blue. The trio had been writing songs for their second album when an unexpected offer altered their plans.

British producer James Brown had heard CMON CMON
on Spotify and fell instantly for them.

Jorrit (singer, guitarist, and main songwriter): “James messaged say he’d been driving in London and had to pull over because he loved our sound so much. He mentioned some of the bands he’d worked with – Suede and Razorlight, and invited us to London to record with him.”

EP Artwork

It wasn’t until the trio arrived at James’ studio on the world-famous
Portobello Road that they realized the scale of the invitation.

“It was the swankiest place we’d ever seen, whose recent clients include
Olivia Rodrigo, Stormzy, Skrillex, Sigrid and Burna Boy. Totally not our
usual environment.”

They grabbed the opportunity and left London a fortnight
later with the 4-track extended play Headwind completed.

All The Other Kids is the first taster. Its breezy, zippy and riff-juiced
flow bring notorious songsmith Evan Dando and his Lemonheads to mind.
The overall tone is both melancholic and infectious.

Its easy-going feel and feel-good vibe make you want to whistle,
hum, or sing na-na-na along. That’s what pop-ular music is about.

JOY DIVISION – British Post-Punk Icons Released Their Buzzing Debut Single ‘TRANSMISSION’ 45 Years Ago

Top singles from the past

19 November 2024

Iconic Manchester post-punk band JOY DIVISION released their
fabulous, buzzing single TRANSMISION on 16 November 1979,
45 years ago.

It was originally recorded in 1978 for the aborted self-titled album, re-recorded
the following year at a faster tempo and released by label Factory as the band’s
debut single.

Famous British music journalist Greil Marcus said about the song: “It’s a dramatization
of the realization that the act of listening to the radio is a suicidal gesture. It will kill your
mind. It will rob your soul.”

Peter Hook (bassist): “We were doing a soundcheck at the Mayflower (club in Manchester)
and we played ‘Transmission’. People had been moving around, and they all stopped to listen. I realized that was our first great song.”

“Dance, dance, dance, dance, dance, to the radio“

Here’s JD’s live performance on BBC’s
youth television program Something Else.
