Scottish synth/guitar-pop legends SIMPLE MINDS, fronted by the now
65-year-old Jim Kerr are around for a very long time, actually since 1977
and no retirement in sight yet after 47 years and 19 albums, with Direction
Of The Heart as their most recent one (2022).

They just dropped new single YOUR NAME IN LIGHTS, co-written with producer
Paul Statham (B-Movie, Peter Murphy). Kerr is assisted on duet-vocals by striking
soul voice Sarah Brown. Nice, simple tune.

Reveries for the laziest day of the week

Nashville-based country starASHLEY MCBRIDE (aged 41) has released
4 LPs so far with The Devil I Know as her most recent one (2023).

For the upcoming holidays the romantic Americana voice wrote a vintage,
sepia-coloured country ballad, called AIN’T ENOUGH COWBOY SONGS.

McBride: “This one was all about where we live and the genre we love and realizing that the horse I rode in on got put out to pasture. Instead of us saying, ‘Work ethic’s out the window, stick-to-it code’s pretty much dead and idealism is gone,’ it was easier to say that by saying there is no wild out west. That’s all gone.”

Don’t forget about the Indians, Ashley.

Balladeer Will Oldham, also operating under his moniker of BONNIE “PRINCE” BILLY started his busy journey back in 1993. He released a lot of solo work so far, collaborated with other songsmiths (and still does) and, was also a member of a couple of bands.

The Kentucky crooner went to the iconic country city of Nashville for his next LP.
He recorded it with his befriended producer David “Ferg” Ferguson who co-wrote
several songs. It’s named THE PURPLE BIRD and will see the light of day next year
on 31st January. More info here.

BOB DYLAN – Biopic ‘A COMPLETE UNKNOWN’ Out On Xmas Day

New BOB DYLAN biopic, titled A COMPLETE UNKNOWN is scheduled to be
released in the United States by Searchlight Pictures on 25 December. More

Based on the 2015 book Dylan Goes Electric!: Newport, Seeger, Dylan, and the Night That Split the Sixties by American musician/writer Elijah Wald the film revolves around the controversy surrounding the switch to electrically amplified instrumentation by the living legend. Timothée Chalamet (who also produces) stars as Dylan, with Edward Norton, Elle Fanning, Monica Barbaro, Boyd Holbrook, and Scoot McNairy in supporting roles.

Story: Against the backdrop of a vibrant music scene and tumultuous
cultural upheaval, an enigmatic 19-year-old from Minnesota arrives with
his guitar and revolutionary talent, destined to change the course of
American music.

He forges intimate relationships with music icons of Greenwich Village
on his meteoric rise, culminating in a groundbreaking and controversial
performance at the Newport festival in 1965 that reverberates worldwide.

The film’s title is derived from lyrics from Bob Dylan‘s 1965
astounding, timeless classic single Like A Rolling Stone.
