Band: DITZ
Who: Unbridled post-punks from
Brighton, UK.
Album: NEVER EXHALE
Follow-up to their astonishing debut
The Great Regression from 2022.
Press info: “Further on the album explores themes of unnecessary hatred and
division, Space/Smile and It smells like something died in here, aging, Senor Siniestro
and the separation of the physical from reality, The Body As A Structure. It’s political,
but ultimately personal. More Genet or Kafka than Orwell or Huxley.
Sonically the album has its roots in the usual DITZ influences, classic noise rock such
as The Jesus Lizard or Shellac, or the obtuse post punk of The Fall, but also brings in fresh influences. The closing track Britney, could be compared to Radiohead or Mogwai. Overall
the album is a clear development from their first effort. A sign of things to come.”
DIY Magazine says: “A robust, tense and thrilling ten songs atop which
the Brighton five-piece overlay some relentlessly anxious and sometimes
hostile atmospherics. Overall the album is a clear development from their
first effort. A sign of things to come.”
Score: 4/5.
TUTV‘ ears verdict:
Without a shadow of a doubt, the perfect soundtrack for Doomsday.
Sledgehammer after sledgehammer, drone after drone, brainfucker
after brainfucker. Always danger in the air.
Any track would work in a zombie horror movie. And we know all
about horror, right? Just take a look outside the window and you
see a lot of it. For free.
Cal Francis‘s spoken word performances are bone-chilling. His primal screams
send shivers down the spine. Lyrically, he operates in a space where reality and
surreality meet. No room for birds and bees.

Sonically they fabricate a volcanic and bombastic wall-of-helter-skelter havoc.
Blood-curdling emo-punk exorcism. Chainsaw chaos. Flabbergasting and
jaw-dropping are the keywords.
Never Exhale is an other-worldly Götterdämmerung experience.
It smells like something is alive and kicking here. Just like that, the
first tour de force of the new year. No regression, only progression.
Canadian noizz bulldozers Metz are on a long hiatus.
Ditz will fill the gap. 2025 is theirs. Inhale them. 5/5.
