Band: THE MELODRONES
Who: Madcap doo-wop indies from Sydney,
Australia featuring rik / mody /mel / xav and amy.
Meet the band. LOL.
Rik Saunders (guitar/vocalist): “I play fuzz guitar and write songs for the unflappable Melodrones. What makes The Melodrones so unflappable? I don’t know, all I can tell you is Mody doesn’t give a fuck. So I guess it just started with a few songs written in the hell hole of an apartment my ex left me in. Mody would come round and fandango some of his better guitar over the top and all of a sudden the beer started tasting better. After I got back from a stint in Manchester the company started hiring and Mody suggested we got Mel involved on the bottom guitar. Well her basslines sounded just right and she wrote some great songs and most of the time she can sing my songs better so she does exactly that. Mody then mentioned something about having a highschool friend who could hit the snare really hard but was afraid of touching cymbals. The poor guy had some sort of sizzleophobia but a real even touch across the toms. A phone call was made and Xav turned up with a couple drums but nothing made from tin. All of a sudden the unflappable Melodrones were born.“
TUTV: Time to sway, shake and swing your limbs, folks. Imagine Danish glam
and glitter psych duo The Raveonettes, at their most sultry. Jangly riffs, yearning
duet vocals, foxy drive, and some 6-string electricity for a hopped-up climax.
The on repeat knob was invented for this
kind of sexy tunes. Now move your booty,
all you doo-woppers out there.
