BLACK GRAPE (1993–1998, 2010, 2015–present) the side-project of Happy Mondays‘ frontman Shaun Ryder and dancer Bez released their debut singleREVEREND BLACK GRAPE. The song featured on their first LP It’s Great When You’re Straight…Yeah
and peaked at #9 on the UK Singles Charts.
“Oh Pope he got the Nazis
To clean up their messes
He exchanged the gold and paintings
He gave them new addresses
Clean up your messes
Heil heil Fuhrer!
Heil heil Fuhrer!”
After more than 30 years GARBAGE still operate with e their original line-up. Vocalist/lyricist Shirley Manson, bassist Duke Erikson, guitarist Steve Marker and
drummer Butch Vig. Quite rare.
Press info: All the hallmarks and signatures for which they are known are present
here. Big angular guitars, precise, propulsive beats and cinematic soundscapes all
lurk beneath Shirley Manson’s expressive voice, her lyrics bristling with attitude. It is
the sound of a group at the peak of their creative powers – characteristically harnessing sonic juxtapositions and moods to create an album that thrums equally with both light
and shade.
NME says in a 5-star review: “If there is one thing Garbage have taken from the time
since their last LP, it’s that while the world can often feel like a dark place, there is a sense of empowerment that can be reached by letting in the light. Over three decades after they formed, we are now seeing the band like never before. Not only are they showcasing some of their most intriguing and impactful material, but they’re also paving the way into a hopeful new chapter.”
TUTV: My ears do not agree with the overall positive critics for this new Garbage record.
It lacks too few monumental tunes, too few chill bumps moments, too few cast iron earworms. Sonically, it’s an average affair for a band this magnitude.
Demi Lune (singer): “As a South Asian kid in class in Canada, when our
teachers would tell us to take out our « skin colour » crayolas, I didn’t know
what to do (do you guys say that in English? Coz we sure do in French).
That pinky beige colour sure wasn’t anything like me. So, here’s to the Crayola corp peeps who took their damn time to figure out that skin has a lot of different shades, and to me being your next token Asian friend in this overly sensitive era. Is your festival or radio show too white, mister? Just call me and I’ll even things out xoxoxoxoxo.”
TUTV: DVTR drives you nuts with this nuclear punk missile. They rush and push without brakes, without breaks. This mental eruption hits your poor brain non-stop. Always full steam ahead while tumultuous vocalist Demi Lune causes flash burns in your ears with her striking salvo of primal screams. Crash, trash, smash. Razzle-dazzle madness in motion.
Wake up people, jump on your
pogo stick and go apeshit.
Band: TWIRLIES Who: Indie-pop trio from Norway with a soft spot for 90s bands like
Yo La Tengo and The Pastels, mixed with a bit of that Velvet Underground melodic looseness.
TUTV: This 60s-retro pop gem evokes the carefree glow of The Velvet Underground‘s timeless classic Sunday Morning. The nostalgic atmosphere, the shiny guitar play, the longing vocals and happy-go-lucky harmonies, even the handclaps are present.
Think That I’m In Love is a sweet little tune that charms, relaxes and enraptures.
A song for a perfect Lou Reed day. You can hum, whistle and/or sing-along. Put
some flowers in your hair, summer is just around the corner.
Surf pop heroes THE BEACH BOYS scored one of their many No. 1 hits in their
home country with HELP ME, RHONDA It topped the charts this day 60 years ago,
on 29 May 1965.
According to mastermind Brian Wilson the song was not based on a real person.
After it was released as an album track on their LP ‘Today!‘, he revisited the song,
feeling it had commercial potential. The new version, with different arrangement
and slightly different lyrics, earned them their 2nd No. 1 hit in their home country.
Track: CRASHABILITY
The first single from their upcoming, 3rd album,
titled ‘One Million Suburban Sunsets‘.
TUTV: After a short, sparkling guitar intro the invigorating, cool karma band and
frontman Jim Styring join in, and together they take you on a groovy, enhanced, power
pop ride. Crashability is driven by a feel-good swagger, yet stays, lyrically, in touch with
the vulnerable times we live in. If you were waiting for something today, here it is. Stimulating melody gravity.

Daily noise that works faster than a stream of caffeine
29 May 2025
Band: HANABIE.
Who: Young, female metalcore sensation from Japan. They formed while in school
in 2015. The group’s name is a Japanese word for the spring day on which the coldness
of winter returns. So far they released 2 albums and scored millions and millions of
streams on Spotify.
Yukina (vocalist) : “The song WE LOVE SWEETS, which we released in 2021, has become
a gateway track for listeners to discover our music. It’s a very meaningful track for us. As
time has passed and we have matured, we thought, ‘Let’s make a spicy version of the song!’ during our tour.”
“Inspired by the famous Nashville Hot Chicken, we decided to create this new rendition that features a spicy and stimulating musical progression. It also has an addictive quality that will make you want to ‘eat’ – listen to – the track on repeat!”
TUTV: Honestly, metalcore isn’t my favourite music genre, but this is visually and
sonically totally mental. I love Habanie‘s flippant barbie-punk-doll looks, their search
and destroy explosiveness, and their unambiguously ‘get lost, if you don’t like us, all
you sexist machos out there’ attitude.
Wake up, people, and make way
for these screamo bombshells.
Rock ‘n’ roll outlaws FACES were a supergroup featuring Rod Stewart and
guitarist Ronnie Wood who both played in the Jeff Beck Group. Keyboardist Ian McLagan, bassist Ronnie Lane and drummer Kenney Jones all three
had been with the Small Faces (fronted by Steve Marriott).
They released 4 LPs between 1969 and 1975.
Afterward they reunited several times for
special occasions.
And today Rod The Mod Stewart announced another one-off comeback.
He, Wood and Jones (Ronnie Lane passed away in 1997, only 51 and Ian
McLagan passed away in 2014, aged 69) play Glastonbury Festival (UK)
on its closing day (Sunday, June 29th)
Wait, there’s more. Wood and Jones confirmed the
rumors that a new Faces album is in the making.
Jones: “It’s a mixture of stuff we never released which is worthy
of releasing and there’s some new stuff which is really wonderful.
Rod is writing the lyrics and he’s really keen on it.”
