Legendary LED ZEPPELIN Drummer JOHN BONHAM Passed Away 45 Years Ago Today

25 September 2025

On 25 September 1980, today 45 years ago, hard blues rock legends LED ZEPPELIN’s phenomenal drummer, JOHN BONHAM, nicknamed Bonzo, died at the age of 32.
After a day of heavy drinking he fell a sleep and was suffocated by his own vomit.

Regarded as one of the greatest drummers of all time, the self-taught drummer was
known for his epic velocity, power, and versatility as a percussionist. He influenced
tons of other drummers.

The remaining 3 band members decided to call it a day. No Bonzo no Led Zeppelin.

They released this statement: “We wish it to be known that the loss of our dear friend
and the deep respect we have for his family, together with the sense of undivided harmony felt by ourselves and our manager, have led us to decide that we could not continue as we were.”

MURPHY’S MEDICINE – Brighton’s Fresh Indie Team Come Up With Top-Notch Debut Single ‘FEATHERS’

25 September 2025

Debut single: MURPHY’S MEDICINE

Press info: “Feathers is an unashamedly wide-eyed indie pop nugget inspired by the thrilling first days of a relationship. Musically, Murphy’s Medicine are kindred spirits with other buzz Brighton acts such as Suep and Holiday Ghosts, as well as stars such as Personal Trainer and English Teacher.”

Amy (vocalist): “The Brighton Scene is buzzing at the moment and it is thrilling to be playing alongside so many other great bands. Our single launch at the venue Alphabet in Brighton is part of a great new grassroots series of gigs from Spagetti promotions that showcases emerging bands from across the city”.

TUTV: Let’s start with two indisputable facts. One: I’m quite sure That at least
half of Brighton is in a band (I’ll add to the aforementioned groups: Lambrini Girls,
Ditz, The New Neves, Opus Kink,
and way more). Two: MM hit bullseye with their
chirpy debut single.

Its lazy indie pop vibes stick on the spot. Feathers is a tremendously catchy
feel-good lullaby, juiced with sparkling guitar solos, a bouncy drum/bass tandem,
and happy-go-lucky duet vocals upfront.

You can listen to it in your bed, on your couch, at work while sleeping and in other related situations. Light-hearted tunes like this set your stream of disturbing thoughts on a hold for 3 and a half minutes. Put it on repeat and dream on.

DAVID BOWIE – Fascinating 20th Album ‘1. OUTSIDE’ Was Released Today 30 Years Ago

Significant longplayers from yesteryear

25 September 2025

DAVID BOWIE released his 20th LP, named OUTSIDE ((stylised as ‘1.Outside’ and
subtitled ‘The Nathan Adler Diaries: A Hyper-cycle’) on 25 September 1995, today
30 years ago
. It generated mixed criticism.

One of his best in my Bowie book. He mixed several styles and genres to a challenging
and fascinating entirety, even though its total length was 74 minutes. A long, arousing, multi-faceted journey, totally worth the ride. Listening to this record is an event. Once again he showed his musical
chameleon expertise.

It was produced by his Berlin-era buddy Brian Eno.
It went to No. 8 in the UK, and to #21 in the US.

The Guardian (British newspaper wrote: “An excellent David Bowie album,
a genuine creative rebirth. Threatening and murky. His gift for the charismatically
disturbing seems to have reasserted itself.”

The Los Angeles Times said: “Overall, Bowie experiments in genres
that, by 1995, were being made more successfully by other artists.”

Bone-chilling.

Band: WILD OCEANS
Who: Fresh, but longtime experienced British indie quartet who
have earned their stripes with decades of combined experience
touring the UK, Europe and the USA.

“This isn’t a comeback it’s a reinvention.”

Track: BLOODBATH
Their debut single.

“Lyrically, it’s a tale a lot of us can identify with – the story of a deceitful lover you keep giving a second chance even though deep down you know they’ll never change – the lyrics and the vocal performance combine perfectly, harnessing the emotion and tension of the song.”

TUTV: A tsunami of greedy guitars opens this riff-jagged juggernaut, then shades in a full of get-up-and-go groove annex punchy vocals, until the powerhouse chorus erupts. And then? The breakneck hits you all over again. Bingo.

Piece from their upcoming 3rd album of the year, actually the 3th

Spellbinding.

Artist: USI ES
Who: The musical moniker of Belgian singer-songwriter Ester Weemaes. In her attic studio, she interweaves synths and samples with her distinctive, dark voice. Her music balances between darkness and dreaminess, feeling like a blanket wrapped around you: soft yet heavy, with frayed edges. She released her debut EP Mutiny.

Track: KONAMI CODE
2nd single from her upcoming debut album, expected to
be released early 2026, on which she worked again with
her coach, mentor en mixer Dijf Sanders.

TUTV: Konami Code is a sensual slo-mo musing that grows on your ears and mind all along its reflective way, led by Es‘ sultry midnight hours voice floating somewhere up there on an imaginary cloud. Think of Sade‘s near-whispering, romantic reveries.

Endearing.

KASABIAN – Vitalizing British Rock Stars Return With Mega Haymaker ‘HIPPIE SUNSHINE’

Daily electricity to load your batteries

23 September 2025

British star rockers KASABIAN, one of the best bands of the past 25 years
on record and on stage, in my book, unleashed their 8th longplayer, baptized
Happenings last year and they’re gearing up for their 9th next year. Details TBA.

But first, the brand new lead single, called HIPPIE SUNSHINE.

Serge Pizzorno (bandleader/singer/songwriter) talked to NME about the song:

“I was watching an Adam Curtis documentary about hyper-individuals and I was thinking
about escapism and how we are lost in this place where escape seems to be the only answer.
It feels like a shame that we aren’t finding something to bring us all together and connect us. That’s where that title comes from.

“I’m very proud of the Lou Reed/Elton John section. The DNA of the band is about that. I’ve always loved a little surprise. From a proper glam stomp to a gear change like that is really exciting. On the third or fourth listen you can’t wait for that bit to happen.”

Along with the news and the single came the announcement
of a huge concert next summer in Finsbury Park, London.

AC/DC Released Their 12th Album ‘THE RAZORS EDGE’ Today 25 Years Ago

24 September 2025

Australian‘s riff devils AC/DC released their 12th LP, titled
THE RAZORS EDGE today 25 years ago, on 24 September 1990.

A million-seller that went to #2 in the US (going 6 times platinum
over the years), #4 in the UK, #3 in Australia and #1 in Canada.

AllMusic said: “Although AC/DC’s popularity had decreased by the early ’90s,
the band still had a lot of life left in it. Arguably the Australian headbangers’ strongest album in over half a decade, The Razors Edge is quintessential AC/DC – rowdy, abrasive, unapologetically fun metal full of blistering power chords, memorable hooks, and testosterone-driven lyrics.”

Schoolboy Angus Young about the smashing single Thunderstruck (almost 2 billion streams on Spotify): “It started off from a little trick I had on guitar. I played it to Mal and he said “Oh, I’ve got a good rhythm idea that will sit well in the back.” We built the song up from that. We fiddled about with it for a few months before everything fell into place. Lyrically, it was really just a case of finding a good title. We came up with this thunder thing and it seemed to have a good ring to it. AC/DC = Power. That’s the basic idea.”

Lest We Forget – TUTV’s 20 Best Albums Of 2024 – Today: No. 9

We’re on our way, slowly but surely, to the end of 2025.
Instead of starting to think about this year’s best LPs,
let’s go back to 2024 and listen to TUTV‘s 20 Best Albums
again and look back on what we wrote about each one
of them.

Today: No. 9

Band: RIDE (UK)

Album: INTERPLAYrplay
Their 7th one.

Pitchfork said: ‘Interplay does just about enough to keep everyone happy.
Shoegaze fans get a sonic-cathedral finale, while Ride follow their creative
whims.’

TUTV: With Interplay their shoegaze past goes into the dustbin. Ride came
up here with a multi-layered pop LP stuffed with arousing tunes, alternated
with pepped-up reveries.

All songs are sublimely orchestrated and bathe in a psychedelic jacuzzi,
while vocalist Mark Gardner‘s velvet vocals match the radiant atmosphere
exquisitely. It’s a new ride, and it’s a gratifying one.
