Artist: SIR PETROL
Who: The alter-ego of Rebecca Magri, musician and composer from Parma (Italy), already known as a member of bands such as Upupayāma, Kaptain Preemo and Ayahuasca, and for her collaboration as sitar player with former The Cure drummer Boris Williams.
As her solo project, developing a refined yet accessible sound built on trip rock, psychedelia and alt-pop, but also showcasing jazz contaminations and rough
sounds, counterbalanced by harmonious and velvety vocals.
Track: ENCLOSED
Only her 2nd single following her debut one Made Out Of Stone.
Both feature on her upcoming debut LP, titled Evil Design, out on
17th October via Elefante records.
The accompanying video was written and directed by Paolo Tasso.
Using 3D animation technique, it portrays a sort of lucid and surreal
dream.
TUTV: This mystifying song is about the will to take a stand, claiming what belongs
to us, even when it is denied by the world and others. Sounds challenging? Absolutely,
and seductive too, as Magri‘s desirous and efficacious voice attracts your aural attention like a magnet.
Its sheer verve and unbridled vigorousness enlivens this haunting upsurge,
reinforced with persisting percussion and scintillating guitar interaction. Ace.
“What would you say if I declared it
all is mine, enclosed in this shrine?”.

Band: GREG WHEELER AND THE POLY MALL COPS
Who: Mental Des Moines-based punk trio.
Track: SLIMEPHONE (YOU CAN’T HIDE FROM ME)
The lead-single from their upcoming, second album,
called Slimephone Surveillance, out October 24th
courtesy of High Dive Records.
Wheeler about the song: “We’re so in love with our smartphones that we’ve willingly given away our privacy and our autonomy. We allow our every move to be monitored by big tech, strangers, ex-lovers, family, friends, etc. It’s scary shit and I’m often struck by how weird it
really is. We’re complacent with our loss of solitude.”
TUTV: These kamikaze outlaws do not waste time. No brakes, no breaks. They throw themselves from the onset with tooth and nail velocity and never look back. Don’t blink
an eye, this hit-and-run race is over in 110 grilling seconds. Old skool sucker-punch punk that never looses its razor blade impact. Take your phone, call your friends and share this furious headbutt.

We’re on our way, slowly but surely, to the end of 2025.
Instead of starting to think about this year’s best LPs,
let’s go back to 2024 and listen to TUTV‘s 20 Best Albums
again and look back on what we wrote about each one
of them.
Today: No. 8
Artist: JEEN (Toronto, CA)

Album: GOLD CONTROL
Her 4th one.
TUTV: The three main elements that make this album special are Jeen’s remarkable

Band: AUTOMATIC
Who: Three splashy Los Angeles rock chicks. Izzy Glaudini, Halle Saxon, and
Lola Dompé (daughter of Bauhaus drummer Kevin Haskins. They got together
in 2017 and named themselves after a from the Go-Go‘s album Beauty and
the Beat from 1981.
Track: BLACK BOX
Final taster from their upcoming album Is It Now?, out this Friday.
The trio hasn’t wasted time since their formation. This is their 3rd
full-length in 5 years.
Glaudini: “The repetitive synth is supposed to suggest a plane gliding as it crashes, an alarm distress call. I was listening to the Leonard Cohen album The Future a lot around the time the lyrics were written.
It’s a pretty straightforward critique of people that have sold out on a large scale, specifically within creative industries. Thierry Mugler said, “art used to tell money what to do, now money tells art what to do” and the world is a less interesting place because of it.”
TUTV: I never thought a plane’s black box would ever be the topic of a song.
Whatever, the box produces some pretty funky dance-infused beats which are
ideal to get up and make your first moves of another day on this cursed planet.
Shake your pelvis, people. Boogie yourself out of bed. Run, run, run!
After entertaining countless fans in South America OASIS return this weekend,
27 & 28 September, to the UK for 2 more concerts in London at Wembley, Stadium.
You can see them all over the city again.

Band: PÔT-POT
Who: Irish/Portuguese quintet who infuse the propulsive grooves of krautrock
with a phosphorescent psych-rock radiance, all underscored by harmonium drones, hypnotic male-female vocal harmonies, and deep layers of rough-hewn texture.
Album: WARSAW 480 KM
Their debut.
Press info: “Evolved primarily from demos by multi-instrumentalist and lead vocalist Mark Waldron-Hyden during a period of grief and personal upheaval, the album came to life through a series of live, full-band studio sessions that document an exceptional array of talents, unified in an embrace of raw catharsis with a sweetly sinister edge. A defining element of ‘Warsaw 480km’ is its impressive range of influences and atmospheric topographies.
Waldron-Hyden about the record: “I wrote the first batch of songs while not really living in one place, so I think they have a kind of transient feel to them – developing them with the band helped me process an era in which I was emotionally freewheeling, so they remind me equally of the beautiful experience we shared as a creative unit and the difficult times that inspired them.”
“Ollie [Oliver Smith] and Sara [Sara Leslie] are experts at getting the most out of one pedal, a shitty amp, and a guitar they borrowed, a result of innate talent and years of experience; they use some modulation for dronier passages, but it’s their playing styles and understanding of ‘the vibe’ that are the secret ingredients.” This kind of intuitive connection and collaboration is incredibly rare, and with these ten pieces, pôt-pot accomplish something truly rapturous as they alchemize deep pain into a luminous reverie.”
TUTV: PÔT-POT are definitely psych rock fanatics. They explored the past, took notes and shaped a debut record that interprets their vision on the timeless genre. No, it’s certainly not a copy/paste job.
You will hear magnetizing echoes from legendary luminaries such as The Velvet Underground, Can and Love and modern era bands such as Black Angels, The Brian Jonestown Massacre and The Dandy Warhols.
Warsaw 480km is stuffed with far-out Krautrock-like jams, hypnotizing riffs, kinetic rhythms, multi-layered jangly guitar layers, hallucinatory wanderings and psyched-out grooves. It’s an overall extravagant piece of trance-inducing work. Not many debut
albums have that mind-bending impact. Top-tier accomplishment.
