BLACK VIIOLET – Aphrodisiacal Songstress Seduces Once Again With New Whispering Single ‘DARK BLUE’

Reveries for the laziest day of the week

25 January 2026

New album artwork

Artist: BLACK VIIOLET
Who: Alter-ego of American garage punk ‘n’ roll
turbo The Darts‘ front Amazon Nicole Laurenne.

Track: DARK BLUE
First single and title track of her upcoming
new full-length, 2nd in 2 years. Pre-orders
from January 29th on.

TUTV: I’m sure bootylicious Nicole Laurenne‘s days count 48 instead of 24 hours.
Only last week she announced the 4th LP in 4 years from her riff-racing band The Darts, and shared the first taster, Midnight Creep. Now comes the news of her 2nd Black Viiolet full-length following last year’s debut After You (part of TUTV’s best albums of 2025).

Oh, let’s not forget the endless touring with her gang and now with her alter-ego too.

That said, BV’s lead single Dark Blue echoes the overall flirtatious ambiance of After You. Jazzy and trippy-hoppy vibes in slow mo. Her slightly hoarse, whispering vocals fit the nightclub’s contra-bass/trumpet/drum melodiousness like a glove. Music for the midnight hours, away from the brutal reality we have to endure.

LUCINDA WILLIAMS – Preeminent Songstress Worries About America’s Future On New Captivating LP ‘WORLD’S GONE WRONG’

25 January 2026

Artist: LUCINDA WILLIAMS
Who: Longtime lauded and award-winning
songstress (now aged 72) from Louisiana.

New album: WORLD’S GONE WRONG
Her 16th.

Press info: “Gone Wrong captures Williams responding to global and personal upheaval through deeply human songs that balance grit with grace. Joined by Mavis Staples, Norah Jones, and Brittney Spencer, she channels blues, country, and rock traditions into something profoundly of its time — a reminder of music’s power to witness, resist, and heal.”

UNCUT Magazine (British glossy music monthly): “Williams reveals her chief preoccupation: America and where it stands today. Her natural impulse is to channel compassion, concern, empathy and anxiety in a batch of wise songs that know their past and present but refuse to crumple or compromise.

One year into Donald Trump’s second term, Williams knows people need to feel their woes
are acknowledged and understood, and more so, that they need hope for a kinder future.

The music is straight and soothing, a band coming together in a rootsy salve as Williams returns to a favourite theme, deliverance through music. She is engaged in nothing less
than a battle for America’s soul.”

Williams: “We are here to bear witness to this monstrous sickness.”

TUTV: If you have any kind of common sense, you’re disgusted by that orange dictator’s damaging politics in the White House. First of all, all the not-brainwashed Americans, of course, but also at least half of the world despises him because of his ‘Me, Myself and I‘ politics.

Lucinda Williams is one of those millions of Americans who are sick of this MAGA cult POTUS. She embeds her rage into a series of most captivating songs, sonically, vocaly and lyrically. World’s Gone Wrong is both a worrying, candid, and sharp-observing record. Don’t miss it.

The two singles.

SAVAGES Slowed BLACK SABBATH’s Monster Classic ‘PARANOID’ Down To An Amplified Lullaby

25 January 2026

SAVAGES (2011-2017) was an all-female London rock outfit, led by French
songstress Jehnny Beth who released her industrial-charged 2nd solo
full-length You Heartbreaker, You last year, in August.

Savages have made 2 LP’s. Their second one, titled
Adore Life – a blast of a record – came out 10 years
ago, on 22 January 2016.

Time for a re-issue edition. One of the bonus tracks is a quite unique
cover of Black Sabbath‘s 1970 monster classic Paranoid (more than
1,550 billion streams on Spotify).

They slowed it down, let the guitars gently weep
and let Beth add musing vocals. Truly special.

ADAM AND THE ANTS Topped The UK Album Charts With ‘KING OF THE WILD FRONTIER’ This Day 45 Years Ago

Significant longplayers from the past

25 January 2026

British new wave band ADAM AND THE ANTS (1977–1982) fronted by
Adam Ant (born Stuart Leslie Goddard, 71 years ago) topped the UK Charts
with their 2nd longplayer KINGS OF THE WILD FRONTIER on 25 January 1981,
today 45 years ago.

Prior to his first slot on Top of the Pops, Adam Ant got the band together in a small rehearsal room in Brixton to create a video test. Shooting stills from the monitor screen during the band performance produced some powerful images. Two days later a repeat shoot from the video recording, in a blacked-out studio, produced the sleeve image.

The Village Voice (American music magazine, 1955-2017) wrote: “The music, needless to say, is rock and roll, a clever pop-punk amalgam boasting two drummers, lots of chanting, and numerous B-movie hooks. Especially given Adam’s art-schooled vocals, I find that the hooks grate, but that may just mean that when it comes to futuristic warriors I prefer Sandinistas.”

Artist: TEll A ViSiON
Who: Genre-bending, multifaceted writer, producer,
and composer (she/they) based in Berlin who has
released five albums so far.

Hailed by German pop culture critics as “one of our most exciting sonic innovators”.
She fuses gritty, sometimes dubby beats, bluesy guitar, circling synths, sample
aesthetics, and raw and direct lyrics into songs that are visual and uncompromising.

Track: IDLU
New single.

TAV: “It’s about setting boundaries and feeling yourself again.
Cause if you know what you don’t like – you know better what
you like”.

TUTV: TAV moves and grooves with the distorted swagger of The Kills, and
the libidinous disco thumping of Peaches. Arousing vibrations everywhere
in the air, accentuated by her sensuous, near-whispering St. Vincent-like
vocality. Tantalising Saturday night fever for 2026 weekends.

“Now you think this song is about u
No, this song’s not about u
It’s about me
Cause it’s good to realize
The things I mind
So I‘ll know better next time”
