CARDINALS – Irish Indie Hype Launch Their Debut Album ‘MASQUERADE’ On Feb 13th

16 January 2026

Band: CARDINALS
Who: Young, fast up-and-coming
Irish rock indies from Cork.

Album: MASQUERADE
Their debut. Out on

Press info: “It’s a record that is at once grand and intimate, awash with romance
and flickers of holy imagery, and most of all, it’s an undeniable fulfilment of the
innate promise the band have shown since their earliest beginnings.

These are emotionally expansive songs, some simmering with an undercurrent of
violence, cynicism or fervent discontent and others gleaming with a bright-eyed vulnerability.”

Euan Manning (frontman) is confident about the LP as he told NME: “Classic albums are different for different people. I don’t know whether it’s a classic or not – it’s not up to me. But
I’m really proud of us. I’m really proud of the record. Personally, in my heart, it’s a classic. It’ll always be there for me, whether I’m in love with it or if I’m hating it.”

So far, no less than 4 singles to warm up.

Remember When PETER FRAMPTON Came Alive? It’s 50 Years Ago Today

Significant longplayers from yesteryear

15 January 2026

PETER FRAMPTON was only 16 when he was a member of British
pop band The Herd (1965-69), who scored a couple of top 10 hits
in the UK.

Afterward, he formed, along with Small Faces‘ frontman, the late Steve Marriott,
a group named Humple Pie (1969-1975). Frampton already left in 1971 and went
solo, but also worked, in between, with rock stars such as David Bowie, Bill Wyman
and Ringo Starr.

On 15 January 1976, today 50 years ago, he released his most successful LP,
a double one, in his career with PETER FRAMPTON COMES ALIVE!

It debuted on the charts at No. 191. Only weeks later, it reached No. 1 in the US, spending 10 non-consecutive weeks in the top spot. It was the best-selling album of 1976 and has sold over 8,000,000 copies in the United States.

AllMusic/Bruce Eder: “At the time of its release, Frampton Comes Alive! was an anomaly,
a multi-million-selling (mid-priced) double LP by an artist who had previously never burned
up the charts with his long-players in any spectacular way. The biggest-selling live album of
all time, it made Peter Frampton a household word.”

Peter Frampton: “I’m very aware that when I kick the bucket, the first paragraph will be,
‘The man responsible for Frampton Comes Alive! just dropped dead, after coming alive all
these years.'”

Frampton showed millions of screaming girls the way.

KIM GORDON – Former Sonic Youth Icon Rocks Out On New Swirling Single ‘NOT TODAY’

Daily electricity to load your batteries

15 January 2026

Former Sonic Youth icon KIM GORDON (aged 72) launched her 2nd solo album, titled
The Collective last year in March. Another noise-distorted exploration of industrial sounds. A worthy follow-up to her startling 2019 debut No Home Record.

And Gordon isn’t running out of effervescent sonic ideas. She already bagged
her 3rd full-length, titled PLAY ME. It’ll land on March 13th. More info here.

Press info: “Kim Gordon‘s vision of art and noise has come sharper into focus just
as readily as it has changed—a paradigm of possibility that, four decades on, still
feels like a dare. Play Me is distilled and immediate, expanding Gordon’s sonic
palette to include more melodic beats and the motorik drive of krautrock.”

Along with the news comes the first single NOT TODAY.

KG: “I started singing in a way I hadn’t sung in a long time. This other voice came out.”

TUTV: Make some room, just like Gordon does (below in the clip) and make room for some swaying movements. It’s another musical affair this time. More straightforward, more rock, more zip. Whatever Kim says I’m gonna play her today. You should too.

Track: I’M AFRAID OF FAILURE.
Piece from their 2nd album, baptized
The Quiet Part, Loudly. Out April 15th.

Number One (lead vocalist/producer) explains: “This song is about trying. It’s about that feeling when you give enough of a shit that it actually hurts, but you do it anyway. We wanted to capture the raucous, bloody energy of the crowds we’ve played for in Prince Edward Island and Scotland—places where people know how to celebrate and mourn in the same breath.”

TUTV: You can expect anything from these mental friends. This one resonates loudly
as if The Pogues team up with The Dropkick Murphys for a zippy punk chant before heading to the pub. I dare you to keep up with the pogo pace without tripping over your own feet and going down, head first. Sounds like big fun, right? You betcha?

Yeah!

BANDCAMP Bans AI Music

14 January 2026

Very popular American online music platform BANDCAMP
founded in 2008, is determined to ban all AI-fabricated music.

For months, they chase those kinds of songs. At one point, the
estimation was that more than 50.000 AI-produced tracks had
been posted.

The organisation shared this message to motivate their
decision. (I wonder how you recognise AI music).

“Bandcamp’s mission is to help spread the healing power of music
by building a community where artists thrive through the direct
support of their fans.

We believe that the human connection found through music is a vital part of our society and culture, and that music is much more than a product to be consumed. It’s the result of a human cultural dialog stretching back before the written word.

Similarly, musicians are more than mere producers of sound. They are vital members of our communities, our culture, and our social fabric. Bandcamp was built to directly connect artists and their fans, and to make it easy for fans to support artists equitably so that they can keep making music.

Today we are fortifying our mission by articulating our policy on generative AI, so that musicians can keep making music, and so that fans have confidence that the music they
find on Bandcamp was created by humans.

Our guidelines for generative AI in music and audio are as follows:

Music and audio that is generated wholly or in substantial part by AI
is not permitted on Bandcamp. Any use of AI tools to impersonate other
artists or styles is strictly prohibited in accordance with our existing policies
prohibiting impersonation and intellectual property infringement.

If you encounter music or audio that appears to be made entirely or with heavy
reliance on generative
AI, please use our reporting tools to flag the content for
review by our team. We reserve the right to remove any music on suspicion of
being
AI-generated.

With this policy, we’re putting human creativity first, and we will be sure to
communicate any updates to the policy as the rapidly changing generative

AI space.
